Nothing much to say about El Mercado. It's old, it has shops selling souvenirs. The type you'd probably regret buying when you got home, There's a few restaurants which serve OK food. That's it.

After having to pay $10.00 to park, we walked into the market expecting to see traditional Mexican crafts. What we found was nothing more than a series of shops filled with typical cheesy souvenirs...nothing really worth seeing...or buying! We left in the short time it took to walk to through the market and get back to our car. Talk about... More

While in San Antonio, we wanted to buy gifts for a few relatives. Very hard to do when you are being hounded by the market version of car salesmen. When we did purchase our items, they actually were not the ones we originally wanted. We bought from a shop keeper who's ONLY sales intrusion was to inform us that paying... More

Just a fun place to walk around regardless of being a tourist or local - like going across the the Rio Grande into a border city years ago

Great clothing, glass, pottery and iconic items straight from Mexico. They will bargain with you but not much. It will be insulting if you get them to a bottom price and then walk away so know your budget. No direct parking but lots of mass transient available. Drop off is a good idea. If you are staying on the River... More

Gone are the real vendors and in their place are the ones selling you what you can purchase elsewhere for about 50% less. A lot of junk, no more stalls w/vendors hawking their produce and fruit and cars being able to drive through. No more free parking. The area has been raped and pillaged and the owners are still trying... More

Very nice market with a wide variety of items for sale. Many items from Mexico available. Leatherwork, boots, whimsical items, clothing and much more.

Lots of vendors and food. Little taste of Mexico. Prices on souvenirs were decent and they had a nice selection.
