Use hking shoes for trails, but there are also turnouts that afford incredible views across the miles wide valley. The drive up and through the forest is stunning.

It nice to get out of the city and into some deep conifer forest. It was a very enjoyable hike. The grade was pretty moderate even for a flat lander.

You will need a car to get up to the area. It's located in the Santa Fe National Forest. Pack a picnic lunch plenty of place to eat with great vistas. Best hike is the Aspen trail.

This area is the best area near Santa Fe for Fall leaf peeping and expansive views. There are hiking trails that get you away from the hustle and bustle of town.

There's a fee to get into the park; however, I hiked a trail that was on the way to Hyde Park and it was free to hike that trail.
