We enjoyed our walk up to the cross. There is a history, carved into stone, that you can follow during your ascent. This is a good place to get away from the tourist plaza area.

. . . even though there's not much of a skyline to see. Still, it's a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours -- on a nice day.

And sunsets are what Santa Fe does best. You can walk or drive up here, depending on your fitness and energy level, then find a quiet little spot and just look at the sky.

We hiked from bottom (there are stairs) and when we arrived at the top, we realized that there is a drive and parking up at the top. Loved the walk and views of Santa Fe and the mountains. Worth the trip!

A Santa Fe classic city view. Ideal at sunset, but underrated and calm at sunrise. Excellent star and storm viewing as well.

When we were there, there was no one around that questioned you being there. I am sure if you keep your dog on a leash and pick up after him or her there would be no problem.

There is no charge. You can take a car up to the top of the hill from the back or you can walk up the path from Paseo de Peralta from the front.
