Who knew that you could see fabulous petroglyphs practically within city limits! They are only a short walk from your car, but then you need to climb the rock faces to see them. The site is largely undeveloped but once you get to the ridge...More

unsurpassed variety of petroglyphs made even more fun by coming upon them unexpectedly. Unlike other reviewers, I found the hike along the ridge to be quite vigorous and would advise having walking poles to provide balance.

It was nice to walk through the area, with good vistas all around. The rock art was not easy to spot - you definitely need a guide to show you where it is.

Nice hiking trails, not too difficult. The petroglyphs are OK but the hiking and the views are worth the visit. We did see 2 roadrunners here.

Completely not managed by rangers actively. You just park, walk, and go find the petroglyphs amongst the hills around you. Really, really neat. Sometimes you will just come around a rock and find a treasure trove of petroglyphs.

We hiked up to the petroglyphs on a rainy day, and I was nervous after reading some of the reviews. It was not too difficult.

There is a gravel parking area on the west side of the road and a BLM sign. I do not recall any posted hours...we got there about 8 a.m. and there were folks coming off the walking trail then. I would suggest you need to... More

Some are recent fakes/copies. Most are more than 700 years old. There are no interpretive signs, so research before you go.
