The NM State Capitol is attractive for at least three reasons: 1. from outside, its round shape; 2. the large collection of artworks displayed on the walls that can be admired free of charge; 3. the chance to attend the debates of the NM elected representatives without any prior arrangement. A lesson of true democracy.

It was interesting to walk through the "public" areas. There is a variety of historic and modern art on display. Worth the time to explore, both the main building as well as the Annex.

Probably the most unique state capitol building in the U.S. Well worth walking to and around. Nice to see that it reflects Native American traditions in construction, layout, and artwork.

I would highly recommend a visit to the state capital open if not for the artwork just to see the rotunda and the Senate and Congressional chambers. I spent a few hours just walking through and enjoying the artwork. I actually stopped in the governors office and was greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist and there's some incredible artwork displays... More

The NM State Capitol archetecture is not the traditional capitol dome structure. The building has a significant and interesting art display in one long hallway.

Very different looking state capitol. Interesting in its construction. We were lucky that the Legislature was in session and the building was full of groups seeking audience. A guide showed us around the senate side of the building; not sure why both sides had separate guides. Many and varied art pieces adorn the walls of the several floors.

A brief 1st visit and can't wait to return. Planning to take an official tour next visit. The artwork placed throughout the building is amazing. Well worth a visit.

You can take a free self-guided tour of the building, with access to the senate and house chambers, as well as the corridors of three floors which are full of various art works. It took almost 3 hours to go through the whole building, but I would recommend it.

We were told by friends to make certain we saw the exhibits here. They are wonderful. For a regional art collecton, it is exceptional. I am sorry I forgot to write it up after our last visit--it is not to be missed! If you have any interest in art, it will be the best 2 hours you will spend in... More
