We stopped here based upon a tour guide's recommendation and were happy we did. There are over 500 pieces of New Mexican art in the building free to explore. You can visit the Senate chambers and the Governor's office as well. The employees were welcoming and helpful. We could not believe the freedom we were given in exploring this hidden... More

We frequent the Roundhouse regularly, and I am prompted to write this review following a recent visit from relatives, who toured the Roundhouse while it was in session. You can go with a tour and see the remarkable art and uniquely designed building (said to be round so that a lobbyist can never corner a legislator). if you are lucky,... More

Many visitors are not aware of the huge collection of art on public display inside the Roundhouse (State Capitol building) created by Native Americans and other New Mexico artists. Call and ask for a guided tour; it is FREE.

The inside of the Capitol is absolutely beautiful and features art from around New Mexico. Visitors are free to walk around most of the building without a tour. However, tours are required to go inside the chambers.

The New Mexico State Capitol is certainly not as impressive at first appearance as many of the other state capitol buildings. When we were in Santa Fe before, we did not stop here. But this trip we decided to tour the building and were glad we did. It is an interesting building, but what stands out is the art collection... More

Starting in North Annex there are corridors of amazing fine art, much at a museum scale. We understand there are over 600 works by New Mexico artists and most pieces are noted as "gift of artist". The quality and variety are amazing and the pieces generally well lit. Yes, in corridors but the corridors are generally wide enough to make... More

This capitol building is very nice and we had a great guide through it. There is so much art of many different types throughout the building. It is a relatively new capitol building, so it is more modern in style.

I believe this is the oldest state Capital in the nation. Worth the visit, would possible have been more interesting if the legislator were in session.
