You can take a free self-guided tour of the building, with access to the senate and house chambers, as well as the corridors of three floors which are full of various art works. It took almost 3 hours to go through the whole building, but I would recommend it.

We were told by friends to make certain we saw the exhibits here. They are wonderful. For a regional art collecton, it is exceptional. I am sorry I forgot to write it up after our last visit--it is not to be missed! If you have any interest in art, it will be the best 2 hours you will spend in... More

Every time we visit a U.S. capital city, we make an effort to visit the State Capital building. The architecture of New Mexico's State Capital in Santa Fe is unique in that it is round. The Capital also houses an extensive art collection. Most of the art is on the third floor; however, you shouldn't miss the artists' works on... More

We visited the state capitol building on the recommendation of locals and were awed by the art collection: 650 works of art lining various corridors, valued at over $45 Million. Not everything was our taste, of course, but it was all really good and much of it I totally loved. Beside you don't miss any of the hallways---there's so much... More

The building is quiet unique. It's very beautiful inside and out. If you're an art buff, you must put this stop on your itinerary. The art collection is huge; covering the walls throughout the building.

Absolutely a MUST SEE! Stunning Capitol with amazing artwork on all three floors, including the governor's gallery. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to wander around at our own pace and also view the Senate and the House. It felt like the Capitol belonged "to the people."

Enjoyed walking around the inside of the Capitol looking at the art and the Senate and House Chambers. Love that it's not a standard Capitol styled building. Amazed that they are volunteers in session only about 60 days a year. Beautiful lit up at night. Allow 30-60 minutes to see the New Mexico State Capitol. The information desk was very... More

It is an interesting building with amazing art. Very quiet - at least when we were there. But worth seeing and no charge to get in.

The round exterior implies lots of interesting exhibits inside. It is just a fancy office building for the governmental workings. I saw this back in 2011 and I must have missed the signs pointing out tourist spots.

We were on a tour that spent two nights in Santa Fe. We never expected such a beautiful building filled with such varied and regional artwork. The people that worked there were so inviting and went out of their way to give us information. We are going back!
