We saw 2 different productions on successive nights--"Benchwarmers" which annually presents 8 short original one-acts; and "Two Lobbyists of Verona". There is a lot of talent in the company for a nonprofessional troupe! It was a great way to spend the evenings. They were not listed on the Santa Fe Activities calendars we had searched on-line however, so I recommend... More

Happened upon this little theater and found a performance for tonight. Surprise date!! We love the theater! Enjoyed the wonderful, comfy old confines of this historic edifice, and the 8 one-act plays held our attention, both tickling us with the comedy and holding us spellbound with the twists and drama.

We saw a play here in December. This is the oldest playhouse west of the Mississippi river, and located in an adobe building. It is small and intimate. Because of that, please remember to get tickets in advance. Also, the seats are not numbered (at least not for the performance we saw), so if you want a specific seat (the... More

We were able to get tickets for a Saturday night. We really enjoyed the local talent. Fun to walk the plaza, have dinner and then a play.

A short walk from the plaza will be worth the trip. A small and intimate maybe 100 seat theater brings wonderful evening entertainment to your stay. Usually very well done plays and performances will make you glad you came. You can make reservations but can't pick up tickets until an hour before show, so time your dinner the evening you... More

Although the picture shown for this attraction is the Santa Fe Opera, the playhouse is a small more intimate setting for some unusual plays. Seating is first come first served, with reservations taken by phone. Payment at the door with ticket pick up. Worth a visit for the matinee or evening performances

A theatre that is over a hundred years old. When you think of all the actors and actresses that have performed here it is overwhelming. The play we saw was well done.We were so impressed with the exceptional performances by the actors in "The Lyons".Just being in a playhouse this old and seeing a performance of this level was great. The only reason... This little, old playhouse puts on some excellent plays in an intimate setting. I have seen some great plays here and some that weren't so great, but the productions are always professional and the people who work at the theater are incredibly nice. It is a community treasure.

Santa Fe Playhouse is tucked away down a sidestreet away from the tourist traps -- local live theater performed and written by amateurs that exceeds most other local troupes. A bit rough around the edges but very good for what it is. A definite place to try.

We saw the melodrama production, part of which was audience participation. This is amatuer theater, but the performers were so likeable and enthusiastic you just had to enjoy yourself. We definitely want to see next years production of the melodrama.
