This place is pure local stuff. No tourist needed or really wanted. But we got in. Paid our cover and got our drinks! The music started up and we were glad they let us in! Cash only - no apologies. The run a tight ship and our drinks got better once the bar keep decided we were "okay."

Make sure you stop and get cash as this place does not take credit cards. Generally a cover at the door but well with it! The live music is always amazing and we always have a fantastic time here after dinner.

I have been to Evangelo's twice now and each time I have had the opportunity to speak with Nikolai's the owner. This is a one if a kind bar as the theme is about his father, a WWII hero who founded the bar. It is a unique place and bring cash. No credit cards. Just like the old days.

i very much enjoyed my 3 nights at Evangelos. great music, good atmosphere. The place can be a bit rough, only beer and drinks- no food. Not particularly frindoy owner/ service but good crowd and most important- good quality music.

At first, I didn't like the place or the owner. Until I realized that he's been dealing with nut jobs & drunks of all types for more than 42 years. I'd be out of sorts from time to time if I had his job. Yes, his father was a war hero and stories like his are important. If you want... More

Went on a Tuesday night just passing through town. Owner/bartender could give half a sh*# about customer service. No beer on tap, cash only... He smoked and put his smokey hand on my beer to open it... It instantly tasted like a cigarette even after I put it into a glass. Not that I'm a snob, but if I'm paying... More

I very much enjoyed the experience. Visited during the day when it was not busy. The owner, the son of Evangelo, told me about his father's experiences in WWII. The owner was happy to talk and I thoroughly enjoyed my time. I liked the idea of cash only. It took me back to the old days. Please visit. You will... More

This is a no nonsense bar that allows you to have a beer in peace while listening to great local bands. This is a cash only bar, so no credit cards. No bud either. I will be back when in town.

We come here every time, whether there is live music or just locals hanging out with the owner Nick. Ask him about the Budweiser ban... His dad was a WW2 soldier who was made famous for being on the cover of Life Magazine and later on a stamp. They are Greek and the bar sometimes serves gyros which are supposed... More

This shotgun bar is one of our favorite places to visit in Santa Fe when they are having music there that we know. For 15 or 16 years this bar was the home of the Santa Fe Chilies who disbanded several years ago. Today we visit whenever Jay Boy Adams and Zenobia are playing and we are available. Both artists...
