All the animals were great but the children loved the goats- feeding them was a great experience. The owner was helpful and gave lots of info about the animals.

We stopped off here on a whim and also because it was “Small Business Saturday” and why not help the locals out? There were 2 rooms with reptiles in and then we went outside to see the tiger, goats, llama, monkeys, kookaburra and huge rabbits. The people working there were really friendly and had lots to say about the rescued... More

Our alligator turtle was not clawing out of his exhibit, you came on a day that is was feeding day. He is only active on the days he is ready to eat, he will swim over to his feeding area . We have been housing alligator snapping turtles for over 40 years and know how to house and care for... More

As someone who is passionate about conservation of habitat and against the unnecessary breeding of wild animals for entertainment, I normally do not go to zoos. I was beyond excited to find that Luray Zoo is composed mostly of rescued animals. It is important to note that this is not your typical government funded zoo. It's more similar to a... More

So we visited the Rescue Zoo this past weekend when we went to Luray to see the caverns. First off, I commend these people for taking in the animals. Too many wild animals are purchased as pets only for the owners to realize that they can't care for the animals properly. Then where do the animals go? Too often they... More

My son (8yrs) saw the sign for the zoo and wanted to stop. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There are 250 animals here. Most of them being snakes and reptiles. My son loved the snakes. We spent nearly 45 minutes looking at the snakes. Cobras, rattle snakes and even a black mamba! The snakes are indoors.... More

I will start with it is a very small Zoo. It is great for small kids. I loved Xena ( I think that was her name) I want to call her a monkey as well, I just wanted to hug her! Her cage mate was Chewy. I loved that each animal, or bird, had a story. Was it worth $10... More

If you're already in Luray to see the caverns, this is a good side trip maybe the morning of your departure or if you need something to do when you get in to town in the afternoon. We spent an hour here and that was walking through twice with a toddler. The petting zoo was good and if you have... More

I remember taking our kids here so we stopped in with our grandson. I'm pretty sure the place was bigger than. Our highlight was feeding and petting the goats. It took us less than an hour to get through the whole zoo.
