If you are in Sitka and enjoy aboriginal art, this place is not to be missed. Only a short walk from the dock and has something for everyone. You will also learn about the local flora and fauna. Small admission fee but well worth it.

A great museum to visit while in Sitka. The museum has lots of First Nation memorabilia that had been collected over many years. Very interesting to see all.

Unfortunately, this site is not open at the moment, but appears to have great historical value for preserving totem poles and other historical items pertain to Sitka and the Indian natives of this area.

This small museum is full of old Totems from throughout SE Alaska - the real thing- not overly commercial at all. They also offer classes for local residents in some of the traditional forms of carving, weaving etc.

The building that houses the museum is going through renovation, thus this museum will be closed from July 15, 2015 until spring 2017. Watch for the activities in other locations during that time, and plan to visit the newly refurbished museum when it re-opens. I've...More
