Went on a peaceful windy fall day. You have to walk on a paved trail to different markers that tell a tale about the fortress. All you can see of the fortress is huge remaining mounds that are being preserved by native grasses. Lots of signage, some cannons. Not too terribly must to see, but glad I went. The fortress... Pleasant historic place to visit for war buffs. Nice walk and wheelchair accessible. Nearby park good for picnics and play equipment for the kids.

Very interesting for anyone who is a Civil War history fan. A well preserved portion of a Civil War earthworks fortress, you can get a good idea of how it looked when it was an active fort.

I'm not a super history buff, and was not looking forward to yet another fort...was pleasantly surprised at how lovely this place is. Yes, there are the historic markers which were very informative. If I didn't know it was a Civil War landmark, I'd go anyway for the trails and peace. A great place to go for a long walk... More

Easy parking and nice walking trails take you on a tour of this historic Civil War site. Signage on site explains in detail the various features you can still see. Definitely worth the trip!

This is a good stop for an overall view of the Civil War experience around Middle TN. The location was preserved many years ago and it's a good interpretive stop. Fortress Rosecrans was a major supply depot for the road to Atlanta and the final destruction of the South.

Something different to see, take the ramp where you can view the fort from above and see the shape. I was fortunate to have watched a documentary on this place prior to my visit. This doesn't require a lot of time to see.
