It was a lovely self guided tour. There were a few local historians there explaining each room of the mansion. The grounds were beautiful. We enjoined the walk back in time.

I did not visit the mansion. That will be for the next visit. I am glad that I went to the exhibit. It was lovely to see the gowns through the ages. Some from late 1800's up through now. Some were fancy and some were not. I enjoyed seeing pictures of the bride wearing their gown. Each gown told the... More

Oaklands Mansion is beautifully preserved and furnished with period antiques, some of which are original to the house. My family and I have been several times. Oaklands changes its displays frequently throughout the year (it decorates as it would have been for Christmas on the eve of the Civil War, around Halloween, the house "goes into mourning" as a Victorian... This lovely home is a historic jewel. Currently Wedding Gowns across the years on display. A trip here at any time is a great day. Wonderful for history buffs and for children to learn about Murfreesboro.

I have been on the tour three times because we bring out of town visitors to the Mansion. This is a must for history buffs. The staff are pleasant and the tour guides are knowledgeable. I thought the hour tour was a bit pricey and should be dropped to $10. It is shocking to think that not too long ago,... More

This was the most enjoyable home tour ever! Our guide Joe Maloney was not only knows about the property but his attitude is contagious. The tour is good because very few areas are roped off and you can really get a feel for the place. If you like touring old homes don't miss this one if you are ever near... More

My husband and I took the Evergreen Cemetery tour tonight telling some of the history of the founding fathers of Murfreesboro, TN. This is done every year around Halloween. There are also professional storytellers among the old graves and headstones to really give a feel for the history of the Cemetery. Fascinating tour! I want to come back next year... More

We really enjoyed the tour of the Oaklands Mansion---the house itself has very interesting architecture as it was built in several stages over the decades. The movie in the visitor's center is definitely showing its age, but the explanation of the different house configurations throughout the years was educational and humorous. The house is quite nice inside. The house is... More

Well maintained hrounfs at beautiful mansion. We didnt view inside of mansion as it was closed, but I was still elated with all I saw. Lots of signage and cool things to see. Daughter played at a park yards from the house. Place seemed immaculate inside and out. Will return one day and see the inside.

I was over all pleased with this tour. The original section of the house was built in 1818 and expanded as the family did over the years. it boasts several original features (wood floors) and some furniture and wares that was owned by the family. The house when I visited also set up for Victorian funeral for both adult and... More
