San Francisco Peaks - one word describes it - beautiful. My adventures took me all around San Francisco peaks. I was amazed that everywhere I drove I could see the snow peaks.

The mountain where the snow never melts. What a view to wake up to every morning and see all day long in all directions.. You can view the mountain for miles away from Flagstaff. From what I read it was a Super Volcano, really something...More

Driving south on Route 89 we had some magnificent views of the San Francisco Peaks, especially as they were still partially covered by snow. During the drive we had all sorts of weather, ranging from bright sunshine to a blizzard, so we saw the Peaks...More

If you enjoy alpine scenes, this is was you get when you visit Flagstaff. The mountain dominates the scenery. The air is crisp and clean and the sunshine feels great.

The mountains make several appearances from the Wupatki national monument. The were particularly interesting from The Citidal an abandoned hill top settlement.

This volcano I could see during it on the road of the grand canyon to flaggstaff. In the sunset I saw it blue and very impressive!

flagstaff to south rim of grand canyon. about 1.5 hours and 80 miles. nice road but can have snow in the winter. great hike town to havasupai. take lots of water to drink.
I'd love to camp at Lockett Meadow. Since it's first come - first serve, when is the best time to go in order to have a chance at getting a campsite? When is this area (including trails) least crowded?
