Feels like a crass between Boulder and a ski town. Cooler temps, easy to the Observatory. Check out the houses in stone!

If you have time, a walk around the Historic Downtown is interesting with a variety of shops and restaurants.

We were somewhat disappointed in the Historic Downtown. Downtown looked more like a rundown part of Flagstaff than a tourist attraction. It is possible that later in the day and on weekends the area is more lively since there are a number bars and restaurants.

We arrived in the dark, so the next morning we found this area charming with lots of history to be found.

We accidently bumped into this area. We were happy we did. We toured in a car. There are many lovely homes. The shops are very attractive. We did walk some of San Francisco street. It was also very neat to see Humphrey's Peak from almost everywhere.

Tons of great shops and restaurants. Not a place where you will spend tons of time, but definitely a place to find good food and visit interesting shops.

This is one funky downtown. There are some really cool shops like the Earthbound shop for some really hippy-fied clothes and jewellery. Awesome restaurant and some real cool bars. We had a few drinks at the Flagstaff Brewing company, had a real nice vibe to it. Staff are friendly and food is great. There are other places that do live... More

Check in at the railroad depot and pick up your map for a nice, self paced walking tour. Lots of small family owned shops, Very pet friendly. Most of the shop owners bring their dogs to work. Looks like it would be a great area to live in as well. For those who remember the old show Route 66, the... More

Flagstaff has done a great job in reviving and conserving its historic center. The original buildings have been tastefully refurbished and repurposed. The old Route 66 and the railroad cutting through the center of town add a very special flavor.
