The Martin House Complex (Buffalo, NY, 1903-05) exemplifies Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie House ideal and ranks as one of his finest residential works. Designed for Larkin Soap Company executive, Darwin D. Martin, the complex is a one-of-a-kind composition consisting of the main Martin House, the smaller Barton House, a carriage house with chauffeur’s quarters and stables, a glass-roofed conservatory linked to the main house by a 100-foot pergola, and a gardener’s cottage integrated architectural masterwork. Tours explore the buildings, surrounding landscape, and an extensive collection of art glass and furnishings, all designed by Wright, which together form a totally integrated architectural masterwork. We welcome you to this National Historic Landmark.

This was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has guests visiting from out of town. Our docent was WONDERFUL and so knowledgeable. When I visited, the renovations were not complete and I cannot wait to return to see the finished product!

An interesting tour to take. It was not my favorite. Our guide was very knowledgeable. It was interesting to learn about the home.

Fabulous piece of history in North Buffalo-I suggest that you take the 2 hr tour, the hour tour goes by so fast! Excellent gift shop with so many beautiful, quality items to take with you. Worth your time, especially architectural buffs.

A native Buffalonian this was my first adult visit to the Darwin Martin House complex and it was well worth the price of admission We had a great curator who knew her stuff and answered everyones questions with thorough answers. The inside and outside of the house were as beautiful as I had imagined. Paying the extra amount to be... More

Thank you for your review. The Photography Tour is a new tour at the site and our visitors appreciate the small size of the group, the depth of knowledge of our docents and the opportunity to take pictures in the restored first floor of the Martin House. The house looks great in the morning light. We look forward to your... More

I have visited FLW buildings and houses all over the country and this one many times over the years. To see how they have restored it and the other buildings here is amazing. It is certainly one of his best examples and the design still feels 'new' today. The tours are well organized and the house/grounds big enough to make... More

I was here for an event earlier this year and, while I did not have the opportunity to take a tour of the main house, I was treated to a lovely dinner in the Martin House's glass events building. The staff was extremely attentive, the food was excellent (hosts worked with the Martin House's preferred caterer), and the room itself... More

I was astounded by the amount of effort the Martin House Restoration Corporation has put into restoring damaged parts of the Martin complex. They obviously took a lot of time and effort to do things right! I took the 2 hour tour. I have never been on a tour and heard so many exclamations of "wow!" I am a Buffalo... More

Thank you for your review! We are always so delighted when Buffalo residents discover the Martin House. It really is a wonderful example of Buffalo's spectacular architectural heritage and Wright's Prairie style. There are many programs, lectures and a variety of tours to take advantage of at the Martin House. We look forward to your return visit. More

A well-restored FLW house in a suburban neighbourhood. The staff / volunteers are organized & efficient. Book ahead by web or phone. The house itself is amazing and team make it a great outing. I recommend longer tour as there is lots to see.
