We took this walk over two day stretch ... opting for the less adventurous portion at sunset and then heading for the real cliff part of the walk at morning the next day. It can be done in one shot just wear the right shoes. It is amazing, slightly difficult at the rocky portions but all worth it from beginning... More

For anyone visiting RI and wishing you could visit Ireland I recommend Newport.. and the cliff walk is a must. You get spectacular views of the mansions and the ocean... there is a forty step walk to the middle of the ocean... and the cliffs look like a scene from Ireland and the cliffs of Moher. It is a beautiful... More

This is a can't miss for Newport visitors and residents! I like to walk on the end of the Cliff Walk because it is often less crowded. I usually park on Ledge Rd and walk it in reverse, that end can be a little more challenging but quieter and very dramatic views!

After breakfast at our hotel in Narragansett we drove over to Newport to site see, shop and have lunch. We parked by the beach and walked up to the cliff walk. We had a nice walk as we strolled along the path. The views of the water and the surrounding were beautiful. They are doing some construction so there was... More

......And it is free! The walk is about 3.5 miles long, most of which is flat and paved. There are some rugged areas over large rocks however there are signs in those segments of the walk. Not only do you get the various views of the amazing rugged New England coastline and the fresh ocean air, but you get partial... More

My family and I visited the Cliff Walk in May 2017...we parked on Narraganset St in the metered spots...we got there just before 9am and had no problem finding a spot. However, when we left around 11:30 these were all full. The walk itself is gorgeous. We loved seeing the water and house houses along the coast. I only wish... More

The whole walk is approx. 4.5 miles. The first 1.5 miles if a nice path offering beautiful ocean and cliff views with the occasional view of a mansion. The second leg gets a bit tougher as not paved the whole way, but the visibility pf the mansion views increases. The last leg is a moderate to a bit higher walk... More

Easy walk with such beautiful scenery and buildings. Well worth the almost seven miles of walking, the entire thing. Lots of places to stop and just look or take breaks if needed. Would definitely go back if I lived closer.

The mansion views do NOT start until about 2 miles into the walk. So if you want to walk beside something more interesting than tall hedges, drive down Bellevue until you get near The Breakers and park. (Meters.) Wear sunscreen and a cap and take water and a camera. Wear athletic shoes for the parts that are not paved. Take... More

It's a beautiful walk along the water and behind the mansions. We didn't walk the entire way -- only about an hour, but it was worth it and very picturesque. Amazing views.
