Beginning of the walk is on a path with several other people around. After the first mile and half, few people were on the walk. No foot path is visible or signs. For the second half of the walk you sometimes have to be a...More

We walked for about a mile from the start of the Cliff Walk as far as The Breakers. The path is all concrete in the section walked, but fairly narrow in some spots, with a few steps in places and also the Forty Steps. It...More

Although I am glad that we took the time to do the Cliff Walk, I did think that we would be able to see the Mansion for the trail which you really can't. Best time to do it is early in the morning and bring...More

We spent 10 days visiting Boston and The Cape. On our last day, we visited the mansions of Newport. Walking the Cliff Walk was one of my top five things we did during our 10 days. Cliff Walk is a 3 1/2 mile public right-of-way...More

Beautiful scenery throughout. Relaxing, calming, gorgeous views of mansions and ocean. Sailboats, waves, and waves on the rocks make every trip different and memorable. The farther you go on the walk, the more adventuresome it becomes.

Yes I know they are difficult to compare but strolling along the cliff tops with a warm summer breeze and the sound of crashing waves is a great way to spend an hour or so.

Amazing paved path along the cliff and beach. Very safe and well signed. Moderate level of physical activity required as you will go over hills. Recommend bringing water and wearing light clothing.

Total walk one way is about 3.5 miles. Spectacular views of ocean and mansion gardens line the cliff walk. Wear sneakers, as part of the walk is like a jetty with large rocks. Bring your own sunscreen and water as hot days can be harsh!

Gorgeous views, breaking surf, and just enough exercise. Was a very relaxing way to start my mornings while on vacation.

Yes you can access it from various points. Parking was a little challenging since we went on a Saturday in the summer but found side street parking within a reasonable distance of the starting point on Memorial Blvd.

Hi. The Cliff Walk is on the eastern side of the peninsula, where some of the mansions are located. It would be too far to walk from the city center area. Someone with knee problems can walk easily, but not the whole route... More
