Short walk for great shots

Went to Castle Hill Sunday to get some pictures, my first lighthouse for New England and I couldn't be happier with the pictures.

I may be biased because we took our wedding photos here but this lighthouse is stunning. It's a common misconception that Castle Hill Inn owns this lighthouse - they do not. It's public property so you're free to visit any time! There are two entrances - one through the Castle Hill parking lot (you'll go all the way to the... More

Located on the grounds of Castle Hill Inn - easy walk to the lighthouse but there are stairs to get up and down to the lighthouse. Nice photo opportunity.

We visited Castle Hill Lighthouse on a sunny but cold winter day. It is a maybe 5 minute walk on a path through trees opposite the coast guard parking lot -- if you drive to the hotel/restaurant you've missed the parking lot. There's a picnic table overlooking the lighthouse and stairs so you can walk down in front of it.... More

Following the map and hitting here without much trouble. Enclosed mostly within island coasts, waves are not fiery. To the west is Jamestown so sunset is not good to the last "set" but, I found the little coastal setting quite peaceful, especially when watching people fishing on the rocks. Time stands still:) Extremely photogenic too!

There's not much to see here as far as land-bound structures go. It's a basic, old lighthouse and it's painfully apparent why it's located here. But the views from this vantage point are spectacular being as it is at the mouth of the east passage of Narragansett Bay. Every water borne craft going in and out of the Bay whether... More

Honestly the lighthouse is nothing special. It's a lighthouse and I've seen so many. But it's the area, getting there and the view once you reached it that is strikingly beautiful. It is serene and romantic. It's definitely work a visit if you're in the area.

We stayed at the spectacular Castle Hill Inn and walked to the lighthouse as the sun was setting. It is the best time of day to visit the lighthouse, as one gets many different visual perspectives ,and photos, of the lighthouse and landscape beyond. The area in general is calm, relaxing and scenic. It is a beautiful space in which... More

Wife & I and friends visited New England in the fall. A highlight of our trip was Newport Rhode Island -- especially sights like this old Lighthouse. It is worth the trip. Be sure to park next to Ocean Ave before you go up the hill to Castle Hill Inn. It is an easy walk up the hill to this... More

First the view is absolutely amazing. Second it is really hard to find. I would read the notes from everyone and add a couple of things. If you go to the inn you've gone to far. There is a grassy parking lot with a small booth next to it (it's by the coast guard marina). There is a paved path... More
