Many of Hawaii’s alii (royalty) lived in Waikiki and King Kalakaua selected a 300-acre track of land at the base of Diamond Head for a public park in 1867. Today, it is a gathering place that thrives with walkers, runners, tennis enthusiasts and picnickers. Grab lunch on Kalakaua Avenue and enjoy it in one of the shaded picnic areas scattered around this colorful park.

Went out early this morning and spent some time walking through this lovely relaxing park near the ocean. Great expanses of well maintained lawns and magnificent shady trees. Even early in the morning there were a big group of people having some sort of meeting under the trees. Lovely place to walk and gaze at the ocean and watch the... More

My kids have played numerous soccer tournaments here. The fields are always well maintained and drain well after heavy rain. Parking flows smoothly; you may not be able to park exactly at your desired field, but there are always stalls nearby.

Lots of shade, some surfing and swimming. Lots of room here and many trees that you can just sit under and people watch or go for a swim. A very relaxing day can be had at this park and you are just steps away from about anything you would want.

Peaceful and quiet escape from the busyness of Waikiki. check it out for a morning stroll or a nice work out session. A quick jog around the park will keep you in shape but also build an appetite. Lots of activities during the day too if you enjoy people watching.

Catch glimpses of yoga and tai chi classes in the mornings and afternoons, kids playing soccer, and general good vibes. Beautiful and big, under Diamond Head.

Lovely green space at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki. Location for many special events, as well as a nice space to play ball or just wander around.
