Visited with a family of four this week right after visiting the USS Arizona Memorial. Seeing and being able to experience the inside of a WWII submarine was quite interesting. Really amazed by the sophisticated equipment and construction of a ship that was built in the 1940's. Each of us was provided a little radio with recorded narratives of the... More

The first thing we saw before the Bowfin was the Submarine Memorial outside. It was a spiraling circle that was lined with markers listing the subs and their crew members that were lost in WWII. There were 51 markers with about 75 crew members each which is about 3750 men that lost their life underwater for our freedom. Amazing. I... More

Another wonderful part of US history. The guides are great. Combine this visit will all the other activities Pearl Harbor has to offer.

Having grown up in Chicago, I have been lucky to get on World War II submarines before. But what was different is that I didn't have to read German this time as you do on the U-505 sub at the Museum of Science & Industry. The U.S.S. Bowlin is located next to the Visitor Center of Pearl Harbor and is... More

We had been on submarines before but had time to pass before our ticket to the Pearl harbour memorial could be used. Next time we would probably do the battleship tour on ford island but that shouldn't detract from the submarine experience and what you learn about the submariner efforts in WWII.

The USS Bowfin as a hands-on experience. You get to walk through most of the submarine's compartments and get a feel for what it might have been like to be on board in WWII. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This is a self guided tour, but has people inside to show you and teach you things about it. The ship isn't that big, so the self guided tour will not last that long, but still amazing facts to learn, and very interesting things to see down below.

I found this most interesting!! It is so cute inside and a great historical place to visit! I found it frustrating to get a picture from the outside as they are so set on getting their photos of you and people for money. I was turned off by this as there was some rudeness. I think if you paid to... More

Located (moored) on the grounds of the visitor center (and museums, theater, boat launch ...) for the USS Arizona Memorial. A one-way journey (thankfully) into a great portion of the submarine including sleeping quarters, messing (dining, propulsion, weapons, control, conning tower, etc..). Another piece of military history (along with USS Arizona, USS Missouri, Pacific Aviation Museum, Punchbowl Cemetery...and numerous other... More

When will you get a chance to see an authentic, battle tested, WW2 submarine. We all get to be kids for a day.
