Could be a great garden if it were given some TLC. I would only recommend it to avid botanists. Was difficult to get to by bus, so drive if you can. Amenities consisted of a horrible port-a-loo, in need of attention. Be prepared for some...More

This is my 4th trip to Oahu and I can't believe I missed this gem! So many colors of plumeria, many varieties of trees, cactus and bougainvillea! It was a beautiful walk with many stunning photos taken and it is free to enjoy. If you...More

We drove in and walked to the right of the parking lot which started us on the Loop Trail. It leads straight through and long grove of plumeria trees which were blooming like crazy in every color. Fallen flowers littered the ground beneath like a...More

Great place to explore, take pics, and go for an easy walk/hike...it's never crowded. Love the Plumeria trees when in bloom (May) and the cactus garden is really cool. This is not a typical, pristinely landscaped, type botanical garden...it's more "natural".

The Koko Crater Botanical Garden is off the beaten path, and it is well worth the visit. There were not many people there (a plus in the busy Waikiki/Honolulu area). There are interesting plants, and we saw a number of birds. If you are botanical...More

Koko Crater Botanical Garden is not your typical heavily watered, lush, fully landscaped botanical garden. It is also not jam-packed with people nor is it expensive - unusual for any excursion near Honolulu. It's free! It is interesting and worth visiting because it showcases some...More

I stumbled upon this Botanical Garden by accident, stopped and walked the 2 mile trail through any types of gardens. It is very dry there so there are irrigation pipes all along the way that take away from the "wildness" of it. It is pretty...More

This is essentially a 2-mile hike with some interesting plants and scenery along the way. Okay for a bit of exercise if you're fit but I wouldn't recommend it for small children or the elderly. The facilities could be better. There's no drinking water (at...More

Loved the plumeria grove! The two-mile trail through the gardens was fun, but it was confusing at times on trails to the side gardens. Saw some incredible cacti!
