I really enjoyed a leisurely stroll around this historic old building. The exhibits were interesting and numerous.

This "Old Court House has been converted to a Historical museum and includes an amazing number of memorabilia from the early 1800's and early 1900's. A special treat at the top is a old court room from the 1800's untouched. Knowing that Jefferson Davis and Ulysses S. Grant was in that building was very exciting, Davis began his political career... If you're interested in lots of American things from the civil war period this is your museum. I was slightly offended by some of the wording on things...there is a definite pro-confederacy perspective here.

The old county courthouse is the site of much of Vicksburg history. Jeff Davis, the president of the Confederacy, campaign here for the state house of Mississippi. Several US presidents have spoken on the steps of the courthouse. I learned so much about the history of the self especially Vicksburg. If your history buff, you will love this place. The... More

Love the fact that you can go through this and take your time. My husband loved it. Amazing at all of the history and artifacts that are displayed.

The courthouse is just full of historical exhibits, not just from the civil war battle but also interesting collections of antiques. The building and grounds are lovely. Admission is $5 for adults. This is probably not a good attraction for young children - lots of reading to go along with the exhibits.

The greeter was very friendly and full of information! The museum was full of civil war era items, guns, uniforms, clothing, dishes, etc. Beautiful view! Great architecture!

Wife and I stopped here because it's the highest point in Vicksburg - you can see it from all over town. Inside there's tons of Vicksburg memorabilia and a restored courthouse from Civil War days on the top floor. Definitely worth $5 and hour of your time....

Learned a lot about southern history today. It is important in so many ways when you can see how history was made over a hundred years or more. The aftermath of votes for and against basic human rights is told on plain straight forward language. You need to visit here to understand the "old south".

So, not expecting to go to the Old Courthouse, the fates took control and after a wrong turn I found myself alongside the Old Courthouse with an open parking spot 10 feet in front of me. I decided to check it out thinking I would walk the grounds and the museum and it would be less than one hour out... More
