A must-see. Even though very smelly, this place is almost enchanting. It seems this would be a boring sight, but rest assured, this place is great.

The pool of water at the base of the terraces is smaller than it used to be - this was a surprise. The winter landscape surrounding the hot springs is beautiful. Enjoyed this visit and especially the off season opportunity to gaze upon the terraces without being urged to keep moving by large crowds.

Mammoth is on the way and an interesting stop. It has easy accessible trail that works great with young and old alike.

This is a prehistoric place, still actively behaving as it has for tens of thousands of years. You will see natural phenomena here like nowhere else--and if you step in the wrong place, you can easily die, so this is not an attraction for little kids who don't behave--seriously. Don't miss the chance to take a dip in the stream... More

Park and get out of the car at the top of the hill, find the boardwalk entrance and walk the entire route to the down-slope platform. There are several pull-out stations worthy of photos, especially close-ups with a quality camera.

If you do some research, you will know that not so many places on Earth offer the spectacle of the travertine terraces. Travertine is a form of limestone deposited by hot springs. Travertine can come in variety of colours, and can form stalactites, stalagmites and other beautiful shapes reminiscent of terraces. However, it needs a combination of factors, like a... More

Definitely worth it to spend the time walking around on the boardwalks taking in all the sights of the hot springs. It's unlike anything I'd ever seen before!

We Went in Oct and has a few visitors Weather can be unpredictable. Elk graze all over the area. Explore the hot spring area safely on boardwalks and enjoy beautiful colors and textures Take a drive on Travertine Terraces and Go for hikes if you have the time. Photographers dream area as plenty to shoot.
