If you can hike, this is a must do. This is a good half day outing if you take your time and enjoy the beauty. The first half is forested hills with endless placed to take landscape pictures. As you get to the top, you go past the tree line and into a new world. There is usually a strong... More

One of the highlights of our trip to Yellowstone was this hike. It is a moderate to strenuous hike I would say We went with 2 families both with kids from 7 to 10 years. They had the most fun I would say. The weather patter changes drastically because of the elevation gain. It gets really windy at the top.... More

Reviewed by an overweight, middle aged flatlander. We (my husband & I) finally made it up Mount Washburn on our 3rd trip to Yellowstone. There are actually 2 different trailheads. Dunraven Pass is just North Of Canyon Village & is 3 miles one way. We didn't take that way, but I can tell you the parking was jumping when we... More

Spent some time on Mount Washburn doing a little photographer and panoramic imaging. When the sun hits just right the valley below is a layered display of rich greens. The gravel road up is easy to drive and certainly has room for cars going the other direction. Nice parking lot and facilities up to, which also helps. It is above... More

It's a little tricky getting up to the top, the gravel road makes a little difficult and narrow. It's not open all the time, so just watch for opening, but the view up here is worth it.

This is one of the more strenuous hikes in the park. For much of it you are exposed above the tree line. If you are not up for a challenge or the weather is iffy choose a different hike. The view from the top is tremendous.

I was told by multiple website that this is the best trail in Yellowstone. I came back very disappointed. We actually made the efforts to climb up from Chittenden and came down to Dunraven pass so we will not repeat the same route. The Chittenden is the worst trail I have ever been hiked in any National Park or State... More

Access to this is on a dirt track to the top parking lot, where there's a restroom. The walk up to the top is very doable, just uphill. The views are breathtaking from here, even if you only make it to the parking lot.

This is a 8 foot wide formally paved road that weaves its way up to a fire tower at the peak of Mt. Washburn. The grade was relatively gradual and not too strenuous. I think the hardest part for me was the altitude. The fire tower at the top is great to warm up (there was snow at the top... More

I stumbled onto this hike while driving around one day, looking for something to do, and decided to give it a go. It is pretty much a long, consistent walk up a moderate hill of mostly switchbacks. Not thrilling by any means, but I did appreciate the view of the park at the top. You could see most of the... More
