I am so happy I got the lottery and did this hike but I sure did under estimate how hard it turned out to be . Get yourself in shape and hydrate before you even start this hike. That was my issue with leg cramps...More

My husband did this hike with a guide & had the best experience ever. He absolutely loved it!!! He got to spend the whole day with a guy who knows this place like the back of his hand. This is a really long hike just...More

Half Dome Cable Hike is the best challenging hike I have ever done. I climbed in June 6, 2018 before the onset of summer and the best time to climb - not too hot and not too cold. It's a strenous hike but worth-doing. If...More

First off, this is a permitted hike. It is a lottery system that happens in the spring of the year you plan to hike it. It’s not too hard to get permits, you just have to plan ahead. Once you have permits, it’s a great...More

Most reviews here talk about how great the hike is, but if you don't get a permit, you're not going to be hiking it. I was with my 14 year old daughter, so it wasn't a realistic option anyway. As a landmark, it draws your...More

Must see place, it's the toughest hike (for us) in Yosemite. Please check with park staff more information to prepare for the hike and there are many videos and information available on internet.

Ask Dom is one of the stars of the park mainly because everyone knows it by name. It is not the most majestic of the rock formations. That's not to say it's not awesome and Majestic, it's just not the best in the park. You...More

I know I took so many pictures of some of the same exact views because it was just breathtaking! What a beauty! This is a must if you are even close to Yosemite, make this happen!

I loved everything about this hike ... the challenge, the weather, the hike and the wildlife. The sub-dome was awesome. A great little teaser before the real deal! Not a fan of heights, I was initially a little uneasy once I started up the chains,...More

Is the guided hike to half dome through an outside tour agency? If so, yes it’s possible that the permit will be included. Would ask the tour agency directly.

Gloves are a must, but you may want a harness to clip in when you are resting (as you will need to). The cables can get crowded and you may be forced to step outside the cables. Try to avoid doing so. The trail is EXTREMELY... More

Hi This is the seldom viewed Q&A feature for Half Dome. General questions like yours will get immediate attention if you ask on the active Yosemite forum. Yosemite is still quite busy in September. Expect it to be... More
