Pretty difficult trail for people who arent seasoned walkers. Well worth the effort to reach the top and see the views. If you are planning to climb in the summer, make sure you take plenty of water.

If you have more energy and are up for another climb from the top of Vernal Fall, this is a must. I actually prefer the view at the top of Nevada Fall to the top of Vernal, and you can also add the John Muir Trail as the return trail to make a nice 6 mile loop. I can't recommend... More

We started early with a bus to the base of the trail, hike up past Vernal to the base of Nevada. The views from the bottom of the falls were breathtaking. So I stayed there while my husband clambered up to the top of Nevada. Very peaceful.

This doesn't take all day but you'll be plenty tired at the end. I'm 61 and it took me about 6 hours and that included lunch and waiting for my wife. To get the full experience take the Mist Trail up then the John Muir Trail back down. The John Muir trail is easier on you joints and toes coming... More

The lower part of the walk (up to Vernal falls) is really busy and touristy but once you get above Vernal and head to Nevada falls there are fewer people and spectacular scenery.

Hiking up to Nevada Falls you first pass Vernal Falls and then go on. The steps up to Vernal Falls are uneven and high, so not for the people who can't climb. Going on the Nevada Falls - which had the most water of all the falls we visited in September was a nice hike going through a forest and... More

Its hard to classify any hike in Yosemite valley as less than exceptional, this one included. Can be a strenuous hike.

The hike up to Nevada Falls should be considered by most to be "Strenuous". It is approximately a 5 mile round trip and includes 2000 ft of elevation change. If you can do that, it is very much worth the effort. The views on the way to the Falls as well as the views at the top are absolutely stunning!... More

The hike up the Mist Trail to Nevada Falls offers spectacular views at every turn. The first part of the trail can be very crowded but the crowds thin out the closer you get to the top. Most people turn around at either the bridge below Vernal Falls or at the viewing spots above it. From Vernal Falls to the... More

These days, sadly, Yosemite National Park feels over-commercial, a product of its own success, taking with it some of the wilderness feel. in 1988 when I first visited the park when the fist snows fell and stayed in the Ahwanee Hotel, it was probably my most favourite park in the States. However, to escape the chattering crowds get up early.... More
