A must !!!
Jul 2021
If you don't mind a long hike with plenty of elevation change , then this is a trail you must do. Gorgeous views , quite a bit of shade and the reward of getting to the water falls ( Nevada and Vernal ) is hard to beat. DO IT!

Favorite Hike
May 2021
This is my favorite hike in the park, although I can no longer take it due to mobility issues. It starts at Glacier Point (during non-COVID tomes, there is a bus you can take from the valley). The hike is about 8 miles, with 6 miles downhill. The hike starts downhill and crosses over Illiouettel Fall. From there, you make the only climb on this hike. You will get views of the back side of Half Dome, and will look DOWN on Nevada Fall. From there, it's ALL downhill. I always take lunch and eat at Nevada Fall. You then go down to Vernal Fall. From there, there is a choice of the Mist Trail or the John Muir Trail. One WARNING!!! People have died here, usually by stepping into the rushing water above the Falls. There ARE signs warning people, but some seem to be trying for a Darwin Award by stepping over the railings. And finally, wear GOOD SHOES; NO FLIP FLOPS! The trail ultimately ends in the valley at Happy Isles in the valley.

Go from Glacier Point to Nevada Falls instead of the reverse
Jul 2020
I have done this trail now twice, going once in each direction. While it is a fine trail, the route heading from Glacier Point to Nevada Falls definitely has the better views (and has the advantage of being net downward, though with some climbs after Illilouette Fall). Mostly this is a way to connect from Nevada Falls to Glacier Point, with a nice stop at the Illilouette for a snack.

Note that the trip FROM Nevada Falls can be tricky as the turn off to Panorama Trail goes the opposite direction from which you are heading and is easily missed. If you have hit the ledge wall with great views of the falls, then you have gone too far!

Solitude in the middle bookended by crowds
Nov 2019 • Family
The more miles you are willing to put on your boots the more magical and amazing your time in Yosemite can be. Glacier Point and the area between Nevada Falls and Happy Isles are well stocked with people. On a cold fall day the miles in between were very empty. Empty in a good way. The sound of wind and water dominated the landscape. The path is well marked and generally easy. We were a little more tired than we should have been, but hiking up to the trail head via the Four Mile Trail will do that. Totally worth the effort and amazing views the entire trip back to the valley.

Outstanding!

The Panorama Trail, when you start at the top of Glacier Point and hike down to the valley is a rigorous trail with a mix of terrain, grade, exposure and most of all beauty! It took us about 6 hours and by the end, our calves were sore. We opted to take the John Muir Trail rather than the Mist Trail and stopped for a breather at Nevada Falls. Don't miss this one.

Our best highlight of Yosemite
Sep 2019
I love Yosemite. It feels magical to me. From the UK, there really is nothing like it (and we have seen so many amazing natural spaces around the world). We visited as part of our honeymoon road trip, and Yosemite was a main highlight for me, i could have spent a week. However, with only 2/3 days we had to prioritise and from reading reviews it felt this would be the top trail to make the most of it. It was AMAZING! Being a honeymoon, we didnt want anything too strenuous, we just wanted to enjoy our time. So, we pre-booked the glacier point bus tour for 8:30am, which was fantastic to get some basic knowledge of the park, and a comfortable ride to the top (kudos to whoever wrote that tip on here). Be sure to use the toilets when you reach the top, there is nothing for the next 10+ miles obviously. We came prepared, lots of water, our lunch, suncream etc. The walk is long, but honestly it just felt like a leisurely stroll downhill while stopping pretty regularly to take in the sights (until mist trail that is). The sights are unexplainable. I cant describe to anyone how beautiful it is, it just has to be seen. And these sights are the WHOLE way round. We saw deer, foxes, birds, fish, flowers, trees, it just goes on and on! Luckily my husband is a great photographer so we can capture those memories forever (bring a camera!). We visited late september and were very lucky this year to have running waterfalls. We joined up with the mist trail (its all very well signposted which was my main worry), and had lunch at the top of the mist trail at the start of the waterfalls which seemed a key spot for most people. The panorama trail was beautifully quiet, probably because 10+ miles is a big commitment for lots of people, as it did take us maybe 5 hours to reach curry camp. As said, panorama was leisurely, for us, but mist trail is not! Not sure about muir trail which we could have taken, but mist trail is stunning going past waterfalls and rivers, but there were lots of unprepared people on our way down, and human traffic increased significantly (my trainers were a bit slippery so i'm glad the waterfalls weren't too magnificent when we went - granite is very slippery i recommend proper hiking boots if you can, or great grips). Its a very steep decline, but they have put up ropes and steps where its the trickiest, and most people are considerate which is nice. I would say this part would be tricky if you had a dog (i say this as we take our dog lots of places at home and she loves adventures), as you have to steady and balance yourself on rocks and keep your dog on a lead past streams of people...just my thought). There is a shuttle stop at the valley floor, but it was very busy and you do have to wait (i think we waited 25 minutes). We actually ended up walking the valley floor for 3.5 miles afterwards as we parked in yosemite lodge and decided to walk about to ahwahnee hotel etc back and forth because its just so nice. If i had known, i probably just would have kept on walking from curry camp. If you have the whole day, i would really consider doing this trail. My favourite day :)

Panorama trail at Yosemite
Sep 2019 • Family
My son and I had a phenomenal time hiking the Panorama trail and thoroughly enjoyed Yosemite! We visited in late September. Three of four waterfalls were flowing. I would rate the hike as moderate to challenging.

Cool hike
Sep 2019 • Couples
Followed the trail from glacial point to panorama point. Far less crowded than others main trails around the valley which is perfect to enjoy wildlife. The view on Illilouette Fall is really cool plus you can rest on the riverside. Panorama point offers a stunning view on the valley.

Epic Trail
Jul 2019
The Panorama Trail runs from Glacier Point to the Yosemite Valley, passing through Panorama Point and Illilouette, Nevada, and Vernal Falls. There are memorable views almost everywhere along this hike. I hiked this trail en route to Half Dome. It is 8.5 one way, and mostly downhill. You will need to have two cars in position (Glacier Point and Happy Isles), or use the shuttle. Less crowded than other big ticket hikes.
