We are mid 50's, and feel that we are in really good condition (we both run or hike multiple miles daily). This is a REALLY challenging hike, due to the continued upward climb and the hundreds (thousands?) of steps, but oh so worth it!! The...More

The Mist Trail is really a three part trail. I did the first part, but can comment on the second and third based on conversations with park employees and the rescue volunteer who was greeting hikers at the bottom/beginning of the hike. I 100% consider...More

This trail is a bit off the path of the half dome hike and worth doing because it mixes up the scenery of the half dome hike.

This was tough for someone who doesn't like heights but so worth it. The rainbow through the waterfall was amazing. So busy though.

This is not an easy hike. We are moderately active and found it to be challenging. But you forget how hard it is when you reach the reward of the views. Spectacular is the only word to describe them. Notes: Recommend the John Muir trail...More

We hiked to the top of Vernal Falls on the Mist Trail. This summer the water is running very strong so there is decidedly more than a mist coming off the falls! The last hike to the top of the falls is strenuous and the...More

This is copied from my Yosemite Travel report, so is quite long. Mist Trail to Nevada Falls: We did not win the yearly lottery for permits to Half Dome, and decided not to bother with the daily lottery. Instead, we just enjoyed hiking the fabulous...More

This is a moderately difficult trail so don't undertake it if you are not in good physical condition. If you are able the reward is an amazing adventure. It is both stimulating and beautiful at every turn. We hiked every day and this was everyone's...More

Small children would be OK but take frequent breaks and keep them in front of you so you can keep an eye on them. There are steep drop offs so they need to stay in the middle of the trail. As far as using a carrier you had... More

Hi I recommend asking questions like this on the Yosemite NP TripAdvisor forum page. The NPS suggests 5-6 hours for the hike. The Yosemite Hikes website suggests 5 hours. If you're descending the John Muir Trail, it's a... More
