VANG VIENG The immensely popular, semi-isolated Laotian village of Vang Vieng, roughly a four hour bus ride from the bustling French colonial capitol Vientiane, is located in Vientiane Province. Exploring the rural scene is really quite a treat as the area is reknowned for its...More

On a nice day tubing is great fun especially with a good group of people. The bars that you visit along the river are a little strange though either hosted by drinking-game pressuring westerners or non-English speaking locals.

After reading so many negative reviews we were sceptical but wanted very much to experience river tubing. We had a great time. We booked for 12 pm on the advice of the company. They did say we could go early but having now experienced it...More

We had a fantastic afternoon tubing. We went with the yellow tubes, which I'd recommend, and 1pm seems like a good time to go- plenty of other people and still lots of time before you need to return the tubes.

If you're in vang vieng, you have to go tubing! There's nowhere else quite like it! And EasyGo hostel does a super fun pre party if you want to meet people to go tubing with! Once you're on the river, it's crazy at the bars...More

Absolutely amazing float. On the way you will stop several places (optional) they have bars and mud sports along the river you float, but be careful, those drinks catch up to you!!

There are 3 companies, Red, Yellow & White. We had read bad things about the Red company but speaking to others they had a good time with them. We went with White purely because our hostel (Army Barracks-see separate review) had 2 other backpackers going...More

Ok, so if you have the latest Laos lonely planet guide and then you read the reviews on here, you may be, as we were a tad confused as to which colour/ company to pick/ what happens on the actual river. We had NO interest...More

Although the 'old and wise' may say that tubing is not what it used to be anymore, I would say it's still a great activity to do when in Vang Vieng. Note that there are two companies with either red and yellow tubes, of which...More

Everyone is requested to wear a life vest but we ended up having to save someone who got caught up in a tree and couldn't free themselves. I almost lost my tube and bag as a result. There was slight currents in June when I... More
