My husband and I did an afternoon hike with Joseph our guide from Matagalpa Tours. We were lucky to see two baby hummingbirds about a week old in a tiny little nest only a metre off the ground. Joseph has a passion for nature and was so knowledgeable about the trees, birds and plant life as we walked. We were... More

We were three women who were visiting Matagalpa for two and half days. We arranged the dry coffee tour and the Castillo de cacao. Tour and tasting. Our guide for both was Hector. He exceeded our expectations in every way. He was knowledgeable, helpful and spoke English very well. We would definitely recommend him and Matagalpa Tours.

We did two tours at matagalpa tours. The first day we went on a big hike from matagalpa to san Ramon. It took us 8 hours and it was wonderful. The next day we went on a coffee tour at a farm in the community la corona, including a nice lunch made by the local family. It was a great... More

My boyfriend and I did the Agriculture and Trekking Tour at the end of February and it was honestly one of my favourite things I have done in Nicaragua! DO THIS TOUR, SPEND THE MONEY, YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Our guides were so knowledgeable and just nice people. We saw sloths, howler monkeys, waterfalls, and learnt so much about sustainability,... We went on a birdwatching tour outside Matagalpa and had a great time with our guide, even though we did not see all we wished to see... but that's part of birding, it's no one's fault! Service was also excellent at the office and in the van. We find however that on a general note, the price was a little steep... More

I agree with another recent reviewer 'I don't do tours'. Visions of coach loads of people marching around. Also seemed pricey. So not the case on either count. This was just wonderful. In fact it was just me and the driver (who was excellent) and the wonderful guide Noela (but I am sure I spelt it wrong as she has... More

We traveled throughout much of Central and Western Nicaragua all with Matagalpa Tours. Our experience could not have been any better and it was all thanks to them. They are all extremely friendly people and they are also passionate and knowledgeable about all of Nicaragua. They brought us to several scenic views, amazing resorts, and delicious places to eat. We... More

Wow, this is the best tour we have taken on our trip through Costa Rica and Nicaragua. We met our guide, Daniel, at 9:00 am. and set off to visit a coffee plantation, learn about sustainable farming, have lunch with a local family and hike to two waterfalls. The scenery was stunning! Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke in... More

For too long, I was one of those travelers who considered tours for "tourists"--not for "real travelers" like me. This experience totally changed my stubborn ways and made me realize that when done right, tours can offer access and understanding that you could never get on your own. We did a full day coffee farm tour with a hike and... More
