When we visited the port a ferry from one of the islands was in and we watched it unload and then load again for the return trip, it was very interesting. The cafes at the port have great food and at one there is outdoor seating overlooking the ferry berths. There is a crane painted blue which has been turned... More

Love Harlingen. It's a really beautiful port and the town itself is stunning. Beautifully kept and lovely streets and buildings. Great people, great restaurants , great choice of places to stay and Dutch barges. What's not to like.

The port of Harlingen is a lot about Rederij Doeksen. They rule the waves going to and from the islands. A lot of people come to Harlingen to catch a ferry to Terschelling or Vlieland. They leave their car in one of the car parks or the garage at the port. Pretty pricey, although not big city pricing. The port... More

The walk on the beach and the path to the port is simply relaxing and a delight to do. You can enjoy the many ships sailing in and out of Harlingen and have a coffee to enjoy the afternoon. A very nice place to be at.

So much to see - of course there are the harbours, three in fact - North, South and the Fishing fleet harbour. All are tidal. The North harbour is mostly filled with modern sail boats and cruisers, lots for the modern boat enthusiast, wide streets with lovely old Dutch architecture surround it filled with shops and restaurants. The south harbour... More

Busy meeting place of travellers going to the islands, seamen working in fisheries and offshore. Old and new sailing ships all around.

Quaint little port town on the Waddensee, with ferry links to Wadden islands. The town is picturesque and has a nice vibe. There are a good selection of restaurants and pubs that will keep you entertained for a couple of nights.

I visited this place mainly due to the reviews people wrote in the Trip Advisor. I would say the reviews are valid! The port is a part of the small beautiful city of Harlingen. One can get a very nice view from the port as well as reach the beach to enjoy the day there. There are restaurants and cafes... More
