Beautiful baroque church

This is an extremely beautiful church with amazing views from the steps. Very ornate inside especially the alter areas. Recommend a visit.

Modica was one of the stops on our Montalbano tour (reviewed under Sicily Life). Whilst we didn't have long, this was the highlight of my visit. The church is imposing externally, and you can see why its so photographed: However, its as important to go inside, as the sheer size and quality of the ceiling and altar decorations are truly... I came because I like the detective series and this is one of the places they use. The church was closed when I visited.

This is such a stunning building inside and out. Worth the steps to get up. Beautiful views. Would recommend taking some time to look all the way around at the beautiful frescos

To get up to this church you have to climb up 243 steps but it is worth it. The outside is over the top Baroque and inside is very ornate with silver, gold and blue dominating the walls and ceiling. Well worth a visit.

Located in the heart of the historic centre on a hilltop dominating the city. The facade has been recently restored but the interior is less decorative than many other churches in Sicily.

Magnificent building, included in the World Heritage List, rebuilt in the 18th century due to a series of earthquakes that struck the city in the late 16th and 17th centuries. Rich in details, has a privileged location, which allows an interesting view of the town. Make sure to try the gelati manufactured by Don Giorgino for over 60 years now,... More

The best church in Modica and there are several amazing churches. What a view. It is worth the slightly sketchy route up the hill.

A visit to the Chiesa di San Giorgio asks for a good physical condition: plenty of stairs, climbing high above the city of Modica itself. It's a splendid building, even though so many similar churches can be found all over the island. Enjoy the view over Modica from here, or climb further to the panorama at the San Giovanni Evangelista.
