A small reenactment village that looks and feels exactly as you'd imagine it would be like back in 1642. All the people act the part superbly and seem very knowledgeable on their respective subjects. Lots of things to see and everyone is so friendly and keen to show you what they can do. The houses all smell superb too...its the... More

In an obscure part of Gosport lies this historic reconstruction of 17th century village life. Entirely self supporting and volunteering run this is a must visit as the villagers play the role of their time. Engage in conversation with villagers about their life and duties in a friendly authentic manner. Not open at all times so check their website for... More

Visited with my parents and husband (why no category for grown-up family groups, Trip Advisor?) and we had a fantastic morning. It's a small site but very authentic with a variety of different dwellings. Every re-enactor was convincing, knowledgeable and dedicated. We spoke to a loom weaver, blacksmith, sawyer, surgeon and a couple more. To top it off, the Sealed... More

This little 17th century village is a hidden gem in Gosport. It transports you back to 1642, where you forget everything about modern life. All the volunteers that work there are so friendly and enjoy sharing their knowledge of the period with you. We've truly fallen in love with this little place. We'll definitely be back and to volunteer too.

Well worth a visit when it is next open. The people are incredible - they stay in character, they have loads of interesting facts and information about their crafts, food, materials and trades, about life in general in the 17th century. The buildings are amazing and set in woodland. Children will be spell bound. At some time during their open... More

Excellent attraction with living history brought to life. Fascinating and well read villagers in costume and character throughout able to tell their story and take you back to the 17th century. I took my 76 year old mother, she was captivated by the lace and loom operator who both took time to explain their role in the village, what they... More

We found this little village quite by chance and were very pleasantly surprised! Looking up historical experiences in the Portsmouth area we found Little Woodham; we wanted to give our kids a taste of English History and we more than got our money's worth. Unfortunately the entrance is now tucked away in a modern housing project and next to some... More
