On a perfect sunny day last July I had one of the best rail trips ever, The scenery was magnificent and the railway route was fascinating. It seemed every bit as good as the famous Swiss rail rotes and deserves huge acclaim.

Stumbled upon this gem when we went for a drive. We were with our almost two year old who absolutely loved it. There was an Easter bunny at the change over stop, giving out chocolate which kept the little one very happy. Great little museum which was well equipped for children on easter weekend. In addition to the usual museum... More

Awesome little set up. Friendly staff and lovely authentic station platform, cafe and shop. Short train journey to change the points which all the children are actively encourage to get involved in followed by another short train journey to the train sheds. In there is a museum of shorts with information about the slate industry and the engines that hauled... More

This was a shorter ride than expected as there are actually two Welsh highland railway trips and we didn't realise this, my son ended up doing both and while the one is 2 and a half hour stunning trip the other is just a short train ride but still worth a visit, like most places we encountered in this area... This was a great little train ride for my 2 year old son with his wheelchair bound grandmother. Although we were the only people on the last train of the day, we were not rushed and all enjoyed the experiance. Being able to climb on the engines in the museum was a great treat for my little boy. Highly recomended... More

Took our two boys (3 and 6 years old) and had a brilliant time. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff made the whole experience a pleasure. The train journey itself is only short, but the visit to the engine sheds (as part of the journey) is a treasure trove of fun. It was noticeable that the boys could get so much... More

This was a lovely friendly little railway. We had a short ride and then on the way back stopped at Gelert's Farm. The museum was very child orientated, and interactive with steps up onto the footplate on some of the locus. The steam train even produced smoke! There were displays denoting the part the narrow gauge railways played during the... More

Historically interesting, but a rather short ride on the railway. The bookshop was well stocked with railway books.

During this month, the railway only provides a short 10m out and back trip along it's usual route. Priced at £12.50/ adult this includes a hot drink and biscuits. To be honest I don't think it worth it. The scenery does not compensate for the cost. I would like to experience the full trip, and I must congratulate the staff... More

Travelled on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway today, what a bargain! For £8.50 each we got a return trip on a narrow gauge train, not a long journey but most impressive, when we got to the end of the line we detrained and went to have a look at the engine as it was negotiating the track ready to pull...
