No trip to Montague is complete without a visit to the Joubert House. This is where you can trace the history of Montague in the company of the Museum Guide (in our case, a very enthusiastic intern). You can trace the origins of the village...More

Well worth a visit although it is difficult to get to at the moment because of the road works which will be ongoing for some time. You need to park in a side street and walk round. The medicinal plant garden is very well laid...More

As with other museums here a short visit suffices to pass an hour mostly. similar on offer is a past life style of former residents with possessions and photos displaying their toils,, Ok for whiling away the time and cheap too.

The original house of Montagu, full of interesting relics and historical items. Take the tour that is offered and learn about the early settlers and how they lived.

We went for the indigenous medicinal herb garden situated behind Joubert House. It's bigger than expected and all the herbs in the garden are labelled for convenience. We stocked up on Cancer Bush tea which is sold at the front desk.

Tucked away on Long Street it's an interesting view on life as it was in Montagu, its a shame the herb garden is falling into disarray

Really enjoyed the tour around this house. Our guide, Mandy, had only just started doing tours and she was so enthusiastic and knowledgable . Fascinating glimpse into a bygone era, especially in the kitchen with its floors made of peach stones and beeswax. There were...More

The old house museum in Joubert house was wonderful and transported us back in time. It was fascinating to see the old styles of furniture from so long ago. The "riempie"chairs , old pottery kitchen jars and black and white oval photographs brought back memories...More

Loved the interesting facts and the garden :) Recommend a stop here for sure.... My children had a ball and the little things from peach pip flooring to the recreated wall paper.
