We move to stay in Batu Feringghi just to see this market, and very disappointed. Pictures people post in gmaps can be deceiving. Everything is boring, stalls sell same merchandise along the street, very monotous. Product sold is lousy and pricey. If you're not good at bargaining then don't go. It's much better spending time at the local hawker centre.

Walking the length of the market from Golden Sands takes about 30 minutes, maybe more in the heat or weekends when it's busier! Loads of stalls along the way selling souvenirs, clothes, bags, art work. There are tailors, spas, lots of places to eat and drink. Relatively hassle free but not intimidating at all, say no with a smile and no problem. Get your haggling head on and pick up a bargain. We bought some great bags and some inexpensive and comfortable designer mens shoes.

Early evening a hitherto quiet stretch of foot path becomes a heaving thoroughfare. Stalls selling just about anything suddenly come to life and virtually block the way, setting up facing each other on both the outer and inner edge of the footpath leaving a narrow route between them. For the most part passage is a slow affair due to the congestion caused by the stalls, the vendors, the shoppers and the stopping to have a lookers. Very interesting and 'knock offs' of just about anything available. If you want to make way, go to the outside and walk up the road.

Try the Sizzle Lady’s sizzling noddles and seafood. Her food stands out for sizzling hot special spiced dishes. She is an icon of the food station having served her specialty food for 10 years. It is a must try in Batu Ferringgi. I tried her fried noodles and it was so good.

I have visited the BF night market every year 2013-2019 and used to enjoy it. This year we found, it has suffered quite a bit from Covid. There are fewer merchandise stalls open, e.g. we saw only one stall with fake ladies' handbags. Most stalls carry cheap plastic toys and beach stuff for children and identical "Penang" bags. Our favorite hawker food court Beach Road still exists (it is renamed Cafe Ferringhi Station) with most pre-Covid stalls still there, but it is now closed on Wednesdays, probably since much fewer tourists use to eat or buy there. Sad. I hope they can recover.

Having taken out a long taxi ride to the Batu Ferringhi beach area we were very disappointed with the actual evening market. There were so few stalls that we had trouble figuring out where the actual market was. The few stalls that were there mostly sold beach toys and clothing. A small area was set up for some food stalls but again the variety was very disappointing. We managed to see a nice sun set on the public beach but other than that it was not worth travelling out there from Georgetown.

We were staying in George Town and went to Batu Ferringhi for the weekend. Found the night market to be of little interest, hundreds of stalls selling same things . Best thing was the Food Court ( with the red chairs).Choose a table, noting your number. Go to the food stall you want and order, giving your number. They will deliver your food to your table and that’s when you pay. Drink person will come to your table to take your drink orders.

I was not a professional shopper, but I felt this market was pretty small. Not many interesting goods to shop. If you love to shop niche items or handmade things, I do not think this market has them to offer, but it was ok to walk around. I spent 10 mins there.

We visited twice and really enjoyed the experience. The markets are fine. I picked up some very good Santa Cruz gear for my son, which isn’t available in Australia. The stall holders aren’t that pushy.
What brought us back was the the food market. Great range of foods and so economical.

The night market is nothing special with various stalls which you can get anywhere in Malaysian towns. Behind the market is the long beach food hall which is very good with lots of food stalls with great choices available. As we say in Manchester, it was buzzing, great atmosphere and vibe.We took recommendations from a local taxi driver who had taken us on a day tour who recommended the satay and the prawn char Koay Teow with rice which was really good. Taken with a few Tiger beers and the good company of an Aussie couple, we had a great evening. The food market is well worth visting.

The night market is everyday or certain days?
Written 5 April 2022
1 How far by walking .. is the food court & night market from the hotel Park royal resort
2. Is the food court opens during lunch time ?
3. Are there any local restaurants open for lunch and just across or facing the hotel Park royal resort ?
Thanks
Written 20 April 2019
From your hotel, there are two food courts within 20 min walk along the main road in the direction of the city, within 2 km. the further one is better with more choices but only open for dinner.
Along the same direction there are numerous big and small restaurants of various choices, these open for lunch and dinner.

pasar malam pada chinese new year buka atau banyak kedai yang tutup?
Written 6 January 2017
Ketika saya pergi pada Chinese New Year boleh tahan banyaj juga yang tutup . Waktu perniagaan pun kurang, jika selalunya 7pm hingga 12 pm tapi kemungkinan tutup awal (10-11pm). Walaubagaimanapun sebolehnya elakkan pergi menghala Batu Ferringhi ketika super peak days kerana "jam" sangat teruk. Dari Padang Kota Lama ke Ferringghi pun mengambil masa 2 jam (!!)

Hello can you walk to markets from hard rock hotel ?
Written 16 December 2016
Well it is not a long walk BUT it is quite dangerous walking along the side of the road. There are many spots where there is simply no room for both a car and a pedestrian. Be very careful, especially if you have small children. An alternative is to walk along the beach side behind the Hard Rock, coming out towards the markets at the end of the beach.
