It is hard to miss this church perched on top of the rock formation in the center of Petra. It is responsible for Petra's name and likely its very existence. Please note that this is a church and respectful attire is required to enter the...More

It's the first thing you notice arriving at the village of Petra. A huge mono-block rock, of about 50 meters tall, on top of which, there is a stone built church. A really impressive view. The church is dedicated to the Greek Orthodox Virgin Mary....More

I went up the stairs at night and in day. both was so nice to see the town. Very nice view overlooking the town. Do not forget to go to Taverna Costas to enjoy some food , very close to mthe church.

Definitely worth the walk up the steps which don't seem like 114. If you intend going inside the church need to cover up no shorts and t-shirts. Can stand at the doorway and take photos, lovely courtyard and views of the Aegean

The climb is less arduous than I was led to believe and worth for the lovely church and great views.

This is a bit of a climb but the church at the top is both interesting and very pretty. Views across the bay are also very good. From the waterfront, there is an interesting selection of tourist shops, selling tourist things before you get there....More

Small church build on a rock (“Petra”) in the center of town. After the small climb you will have a beautiful view of the town.

This is a natural hot spring coming from underground. The indoor part is separated by sex; the women's is small and somewhat tepid for those who enjoy hot springs. For new people in my group, they could only stay about ten minutes without getting out...More

This is the famous church on the rock in Petra. You have to climb up a many stone steps - but you get a beautiful view; better going up at sunset time.
