Altesino is a leader in various, important innovations in the production of Sangiovese from Montalcino, causing it to stand out and become a reference point for the entire territory.

Some of the positive contributions putting Montalcino on the world map are: the introduction of the "Cru" (Montosoli) concept in 1975, the production in '77 of the first Grappa from a winery and the first Futures (purchasing wine before its release) for Brunello 1985.

We organize wine tastings and the visit are made under appointment preferably.

This is a fun winery to visit. The cellar is that houses the barrels is on of the more show-ready ones that you will see.

While attending classes to learn about wine, I enjoyed a bottle from this estate. As we were traveling to Tuscany and planning to spend a day wine tasting in Montalcino, we decided to schedule a visit to this estate. As with all the estates we visited in Tuscany, we email ahead of time to set up appointments. The staff here... More

We visited the winery and were given a tour. Interesting but not spectacular. If you have visited wineries before then this is nothing new or special. The tour was follow by a wine tasting. We were offered 4 wines overall - maybe 60ml each time (2 ounces), hence 240ml or 8 ounces in total - in a restaurant that would... More

Very nice and personal tour and tasting experience at Altesino. Despite wet weather and cold, our host made the best of it.....along with being personable and knowledgeable of the business and the wines being poured. Good value experience.

Gorgeous location and an excellent tour from the very gracious and knowledgeable Giulia. The outstanding wines were accompanied by an excellent antipasto spread. This was our best winery visit in Tuscany. We were pleased to learn we could purchase the wines at lower prices than in the United States and ship them back at a reasonable cost. Well worth the... Private tour and wine tasting was set up by our B&B, and it was great. Tour was interesting, and we learned a lot about Super Tuscans and Brunello. Tasting included a light lunch which was also tasty. Their 2011 Brunello is a nice wine and is considerably less expensive at the winery (27 euros/bottle) than at Montalcino wine stores (between... We went here based on recomendation of our driver. Location is one of the best we saw so far. We didn't have reservation so we had to wait for a short wine tasting. Staff was so nice and pleasant. Wines were great! One of the best we tried in the area.

Eight friends reserved a private tour w lunch and we were all very pleased. Our gracious hostess was very knowledgeable and patiently answered our many questions. The tour of the beautiful vineyard and the impressive winery took about an hour, but the best part was the wine tasting. We sampled six different wines accompanied by a generous lunch of bruschetta,... More

We called ahead and my husband & I were given a private tour and tasting. We learned so much about Altesino's process for making beautiful Brunello & Rosso. Our guide was a sommelier who was raised in Montalcino and spoke English well. She was friendly & welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was a highlight of our trip.

I had a private wine tasting with a gorgeous view over the vineyards and of Montalcino in the distance. This vineyard is about 10-12 minutes from Montalcino. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Tasted a Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and a super tuscan. All very nice wines! They prefer if you call ahead to make a reservation as there are... More
