Larger than you might expect for a small-ish town such as M do Douro. In a quiet quarter of the town where the narrow roads widen a little.

The cathedral in Miranda do Douro dates from the 16th century and is surprisingly large and opulent for a place that is today a bit of a sleepy backwater. But when the cathedral was built Miranda was a much more important city. The cathedral is...More

Its a nice little cathedral but when we visited it was over run with tourist buses and loads of noisy people. I like the quiet location up on the hill. Worth a look if you are in the area.

Not only the cathedral is worth a visit the whole village with the ruin of an ancient castle and views are interesting too. The tiny shops sell low quality cheap products - more waste of time and money than valuable, sorry to warn about.
