We took our elderly dog for a walk at the mere knowing that dogs must be on leads. This is just perfect for our sensitive lady. We had a great experience enhanced by moist cake and tea whilst sat inside the cafe. Our dog was welcomed in. If you want to have a lovely few hours gazing at the magnificent... More

A massive lake, with a few facilities on site, also good for bird watching. I live in Hornsea now, but first came here 40 years ago fishing, I have never seen anyone catch anything, though the taxidermy pike in the cafe always kept one hoping! Fishing from the banks not easy or ideal as it is so shallow. Fishing from... More

Observed, various, contented wading birds and gulls, in particular, in this peaceful situation. Cold and windy today, had a short walk only beside Mere. Picnicked in car. Dogs are allowed to walk on lead. Length of stay depends on time of year, weather and activities planned. Can hire boats around the Mere at certain times. Take binoculars and camera. Small,... More

Went out it season, was a cold, bright sunny day, lovely views across the mere. Plenty of room to park, lots of ducks, geese, and swans, nice place to walk round. Does get busy, but spent a lovely couple of hours there, just nice to sit and watch the wildlife from the car.

Lovely cup of tea and warm welcoming as always. Been visiting the mere since I was a child and love how it hasn't altered too much over the years 😊

This is such a nice place ,lots of bird life you get geese mobbed if you try eating outside the car but it is funny. Shame there is no boardwalk as gets very muddy.

Beautiful setting, with a bit of effort, this could be a hotspot. It's almost like they don't want people to visit.

What a lovely place to go with or without children, you can feed the many ducks there, go for a boat trip around the mere, play mini golf, or just go for lunch, sit outside if weather permits, if not inside, the food stuff is excellent, massive pieces of cake, lovely toasted sandwiches, there is a little shop also, a...
