This is a really nice place .. It was quite quiet when I visited ( which I was pleased about ) .. Very relaxing stroll along the sand and walked up the high stairway to take some lovely pics from up the top ... Well worth a visit :-)

A lovely huge beach with safe swimming (unless otherwise warned of course). The sand is very soft and you are also near cafes.

I have just noticed a couple of rather negative reports about this beach. All I can say is that, if you found the beach so crowded and did not want to join in, then why did not just turn around?. We also went in September, albeit a Thursday, and, as you can see from the photographs, there were not that many people on the beach. It would have been an ideal day for anyone with a family to enjoy playing and digging in the sand. People were also swimming, so they can't have found the water that bad. I cannot comment on the state of the toilets (as I did not use them) but there are plenty of decent places where you can get food and drinks. My wife is particularly fussy but we have not, as yet, found a place where we would not go again. By the way, I am not a resident of Broadstairs (we live quite a few miles away) but we enjoy coming here for the sea breezes and the walks along to promenades.

Drummed off the prom!! God help you if you come onto this beach on a long dog walk! Having walked 2/3 miles along the beautiful Kent coast a couple of days ago, my daughter, my dog and I arrived at Viking Beach. There were “No dogs allowed on the beach” signs everywhere. Needing to use the loo and hoping for a drink, we walked around the very back edge of the beach to use those facilities. My daughter held the dog as I nipped into the loo. Someone approached her and told her if she didn’t leave immediately she may be fined by the patrol! Unnerved, we quickly headed for the nearest stairs. We ended up on a narrow walkway with beach huts. We apologised as we had to squeeze past people sitting in the pathway (no hope of social distancing here!!). Until we came to a particularly unpleasant corpulent chap, eating his sandwiches and telling us loudly “I don’t know if you are illiterate but there are no dogs allowed on this beach!” It was 7 days before the rule lifted and we weren’t even o the beach!! THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, RUDE, OVERLY AGGRESSIVE PEOPLE on a very lovely beach. I will never return again and would advise all others to avoid - there are so many others to choose from where you are welcomed!

Im not sure how this beach has received high reviews as this is probably the worst I have ever visited. Some people on here who have reviewed it so highly have real low expectations. We had decided to visit this beach based on the 4.5 star rating, These reviews are so misleading! Some of these 5 star reviews are from people that there only expectation is....Sea and Icecream. Dur!!! If you are someone that expects some more of the finer details like ....cleanliness and nice scenery??? Then please continue to read this HONEST review....... We have visited other beaches around the kent coastline and also quite a few around the uk / wales and so have a reasonable expectation. Here goes.... Due to Covid our anniversary celebration / week off work holiday was limited to day trips in and around the uk. Our trip to this place lasted a whole 15 minutes, it had taken this long to decide it wasnt worth spending another minute longer in this place. Here are the highlights: 1. If you are a chav or the elderly or both you will love this beach as you will be greeted with open arms and fit in perfectly. We visited mid week at the end of September and yet this place was packed with the unemployed. 2. Despite the high numbers of people there was still more seagulls then people! If you like the hitchcock film ‘The Birds’ you will love this place. Ive been to many beaches so I know what to expect however I have never seen so many flying rats in one place. 3.The views / scenery is disgusting. Moss growing cliff edge, tatty old industrial buildings in the distance, rubbish, cluttered with peoples belongings, the sea is muddy and looks like Diarrhea, covered in seaweed, a swarm of seagulls, the beach is tiny. We didnt take any pictures as thats how awful this place is! However if you love that urban beach / post apocalyptic look? you will have selfies to be proud of. 4. The toilets are disgusting and the shops are grubby. I would not consume anything from these places. Not enough toilets for the amount of people that visit here. Also I wasnt sure if my feet were wet from seawater or urine. 🤷🏽‍♂️ 5. This place is so awful I cant be bothered to write anymore. Such a disappointment. Please dont waste your time visiting here there are much nicer beaches to check out. Also check the tide times to avoid disappointment.
