Baggins Book Bazaar was on my programme for Rochester and I even made time for the visit. I was glad to find the place, glad to meet a very affable owner, obviously well acquainted with his trade, glad that the well-stocked bookshop is not all on database and that the customer is asked to browse like a good old bookworm.... Well, where to begin.... Baggins Books is a true book lovers book shop.. One of my favourite reasons for going is the smell, this might sound odd but it smells of old books which is just what a bolts hop should smell like... Not the sanitised rows of new paperbacks perfectly arranged while wafts of coffee pass your nose ,... More

Huge range of second hand books, could spend hours in here. I bought several books on US history, but would have bought a lot more had I the stamina to look at every section.

Every time I go to old Rochester I visit this amazing emporium of second hand books. Every interest under the Sun, very knowledgeable and helpful staff, floors galore and hours of quiet enjoyable searching. Do try it.

If you like second hand books and I do, this place is a must. It is a place of adventure for all lovers of the written word. Shelves upon shelves of old and newer second hand books that others have had the adventure of reading before you. Maybe not in the best alphabetical order, more just in groups of topics... More

This is such a lovely rickety old book shop, almost a museum. Even if you are not a big reader it's well worth spending a bit of time in the numerous rooms and aisles of this shop, I almost guarantee you buy a book on an interest you never knew you had! Take the kids too and get them away... More

Baggins is a great second hand bookshop dealing in anything from rarities to pulp paperbacks and it just goes on forever. It feels like a library out of a fantasy novel where the normal rules of space have been suspended. Lovely people too who amazingly seem to know most of what is there.

I have been visiting Baggins for over thirty years and never fail to be impressed by the holdings. I have visited twice recently and as I was walking out the second time my eyes spotted some large volumes stuffed into a corner. I dragged them out to find some incredibly rare titles. The prices had even been reduced! Every visit... More

Amazing lovely old book smell. Helpful staff too. All books are in sections, but you can get lost in yourself looking from 1 shelf to the next.
