The staff at La Merced we're so kind. Hector was a great guide who pointed out animals, interesting plants, etc. He made sure everyone felt safe on their horses. Gave us enough canter time at the beach.

Very calm, well behaved, well cared for horses, tack and property. Helmet and stirrup guards provided. Comfortable saddles. We went with a small group to the beach and were able to ride to our ability. I've ridden horses for 20 years and my boyfriend rode for the first time and we both thoroughly enjoyed our ride! We got to walk,... More

I went here with a group and despite my fear about riding a horse, it was a wonderful experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient and The horses were very well-trained. The waterfall was so refreshing after the ride and we all thought it was a highlight of our trip.

AlthoughI didn't go on the trip, my husband and three children went for a horseback ride with Rancho la Merced. They had a fantastic time. The horses were well trained and my kids didn't stop raving about their very special afternoon.

The ranch is clean and well maintained. The horses graze fresh grass in open pastures and are very healthy. Our guide Hector was awesome, very knowledgeable about the local plants, track and animals. Our walk and trot through the jungle to a pleasant waterfalll was beautiful. We saw howler monkeys, white face monkeys, wild pigs, iguana, a Tuscan, and two... More

Rancho La Merced takes great care of their horses, and offers a nice trail ride through their beautiful property to a nice waterfall. The staff were very friendly, spoke great English and offered some interesting insights into the local flora and fauna. One of the guides spotted a black and green poison arrow frog which he noticed whilst riding on... More

We were disappointed with the 3.5 km self guided hike here. The trail has not been maintained and there were many places that large trees had fallen across the trail. It was not clear how to get around these trees and then find the trail again. We informed the staff so hopefully, they will go up and do maintenance.

They matched all five of us with the perfect horse. We had all different levels of skill. Landon the guide was wonderful. Very accommodating to all our wishes. We finally got to see the monkeys!
