You can see across the whole valley and be sure to catch the hiking trails all around that tell the history of this castle. You can tour the inside for €2 and snap a photo from the top. Several annual event to include New Years fireworks and the annual jazz hike in the spring kick off from this location and... More

The Burg is a good hike from city center. It is a neat ruin that is open several days a week, but I can never catch it open. The little gast house is great after your walk up. They have beer of course, and wild game and the standard wurst fair and schnitzels. Service is friendly and the view is... More

Amazing food, amazing view, family and pet friendly. A visit could be done during any time of year in any temperature and when it becomes too hot or cold, go in the cool restaurant or outside in the either open or closed and heated area to receive an further scenic view while you dine.

This is a small castle in ruins. It has only a few intact rooms and many have water dripping through the sandstone. It is lovely how the erosion has softened the lines of the castle walls, the moss and ivy grow freely, and the flowers are just blooming all along the base and in areas where the soil is deeper... We went here on a started out as a sunny Sunday afternoon!! The castle did cost 4 euro for adults to see and there is some parking available!! Lots to see and you get great views of the city from the top. They have a restaurant there was good food.

Although it is possible to arrive by car and park just next to the castle's walls I truly recommend to walk. There are several trails with varying difficulty. Steep parts are followed by those with almost no climb, at several places you can relax and enjoy beautiful view to the town. A long the trails can be seen funny statues... More

Enjoyed the view on the way up and at the top for this attraction. Once at the top, just some castle ruins, not a typical castle if you are looking for medieval tours etc...

We visited Burg Nanstein on a rainy day a few weeks ago. It was really neat being able to see and walk around the castle ruins. Loved the view from the top too! Would love to see this place on a sunny day

On the first warm day in February, I went by myself to explore Nanstein. It was a wonderful day. The castle was easy to find and explore on my own. It was easy enough to navigate and get around and the view was amazing. The ruins were very interesting. The cost- 3 euro- very affordable. After exploring the ruins I... More
