Visited in April 2017. Bluebells were very vibrant as were dozens of other flowers and plants. It's a big space with lots of walks around a large lake. I recommend using the facilities at the entrance as I don't think there are any once you get into the arboretum itself. The walk is steep so plan for a long walk... More

8 of us went for a walk on Good Friday morning. We hadn't been to Winkworth previously and found it to be a lovely place. It's a bit hilly for anyone with walking difficulties but manageable if you have moderate abilities.

Making the most from our renewed NT membership, we arrived here over the Easter Weekend. It is a most beautiful setting with signposted walkways for all abilities. The bluebells are particularly delightful to see. I had not realised how large the place was, so next time I will visit for longer and bring a picnic with me, along with a... More

Great place to visit in general! We went specifically to check out the newish playground which was okay but still some work to do in landscaping the area and more suitable for kids 4+. We did the blue walk and had a picnic there, lovely few hours.

At any season Winkworth is beautiful thanks to the incredible variety of trees and shrubs and wonderful vistas and perspectives all around the walk. Today the bluebells were in full swing and their heady perfume filled the air despite a slight spring chill. So much colour in Azalea walk and in the diversity of trees coming into leaf. The Boat... If you like gardens, you'll like this. Wide variety of trees and flowers. Great tea room too! Pity about the brusque reception office staff member who said she hadn't got time to look up our National Trust membership numbers (we left home without our cards) because she was so busy - there was NOBODY else in the queue!

Such a nice place for a walk! The landscape is great, all different levels and curves, amazing plant life, amazing views, not too strenuous and lovely place for a picnic by the lake near the boathouse. Could sit and watch the day go by with such ease and calm. Lovely tea room too haha! Nice scone with jam and clotted... More

Our first visit to Winkworth today as NT members. We're always a little cautious about where to go as our two youngest children are very nervous of dogs. Delighted to see that dogs on leads only are welcome here - well done NT! This is good for everyone. We decided to set off on the red walk, having been given... More

The bluebells and rhododendrons are out. This is a National Trust property we haven't vidsitd before. Lots of paths to wander so great for children.
