What a beautiful town! We liked it better than interlaken Switzerland, it's smaller yet more beautiful. All kinds of restaurants there too but try to get there earlier as it becomes dead later part of the day.

No matter how many photographs I might have seen, but reaching Hallstatt via the lake in itself is such a memorable experience and then the village ofcourse. It's absolutely pretty pretty prettyy ... If you are in Salzburg , do not miss Hallstatt .!

We departed from Salzburg to catch the bus to the village. It took around 3 hours to reach the village. Make sure that you ask the hotel for bus timetable. Try to get up early as much as you can if you want to spend only few hours in the village. It's a very beautiful village. You should try to... More

Must Visit! Another beautiful place on earth. Plan a day trip and enjoy. If you are coming from Salzburg, one of the way you can get there; 1. 90mins bus (no.150, EUR10.60) to Bad Ischl 2. 25mins train (EUR4.20) from Bad Ischl to Hallstatt 3. 5mins boat (EUR2.50) to Hallstatt Markt. Take this boat ride for amazing view!

I saw many photos of this town while planning my trip and the actual visit did not disappoint. This is a great location for pics and romantic for couples. We visited the Salt Mine, then had lunch near the viewing platform.

A must see if you are in the area. A very beautiful and traditional Austrian village in an idyllic lake side location. parking is the only issue but certainly worth the effort.

Hallstatt was a pretty little town, however when we visited very little was open. For a tourist town with plenty of tourists was a bit disappointed when my husband and I was looking forward to stop by and have something to eat and drink and found majority of the restaurants closed. We ended up getting a take out pizza but... More

Austrian lake district of Salzkammergut, a short trip from Salzburg is just one of most picturesque areas imaginable. Everywhere you look the views are spectacular. Mondsee is a lovely town however for really magnificent sights spend time in Hallstatt which is believed to be the oldest inhabited town in Europe. Naturally the area attracts multitudes of tourists including many Chinese... More

A wonderful location to visit, but go during the shoulder seasons. Overrun with bus tourist during the day time. However stay in town in a guesthouse, enjoy the morning and evening hours.
