We rented a 25hp boat from Geiranger Feriensenter on a cloudy and misty day and were able to still enjoy our day! We bundled up and it was neat to get up close to the Seven Sisters and Suitor waterfalls. However, don't get too close...More

Went there on a cold, windy and drizzly day. It was so good and bracing that we did not feel the cold. The view is awesome. A cruise will show you the 7 sisters, the bridal veil etc.....and there is an audio to help you...More

We took the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery. There is no right or wrong side of the fjord, the views are just lovely from both sides. The Seven Sisters cascade is just stunning. While there is plenty of seating inside,...More

If you can, the best way to experience the grandeur of the fjord is by kayak, preferably one which involves an overnight camp . So much better than the view from a ferry or a cruise ship

Do not miss this chance! Find a bus tour up the valley to the very end. Sit on the right side of the bus on the way up for maximum photo opportunity. Bring appropriate layers that will be worn, discarded and worn. Don't forget the...More

The fjord itself is absolutely beautiful. Amazing waterfalls and beautiful surrounding mountains with great hiking trails you can take advantage of. The only reason why I'd give it 4 out of 5 is because there are a lot of tourist buses as well as cruises...More

The Geiranger is fantastic. Even though it rained our first day and was overcast on the second day it is really a place of grandeur. The ships in the Barbour add to its beauty. This is a must see place

Three hour slow cruise through this stunning area with mountains with snow covered tops producing waterfall cascading down in the water bellow. Stunning hill sides dotted with the odd farm. Boat did a 360 spin at the sevens sister waterfall just stunning.

I am driving from Alesund to Geiranger and would like to book a boat tour of the fjord. Should this be done in advance? How long do these tours usually last?

If your arrival coincides with cruise ships docked - I would say yes, book ahead. We were on a cruise ship and booked on our own at half the cost. The same company is used by the cruise ships and they are the major Or maybe... More
