We took a short taxi ride from the Cloud Forest Lodge into Monteverde for lunch at Stella's Bakery and decided to take a look at this store located across the way. They have lots of pretty embroidered items made locally. The prices were a bit high though. Maybe on our next visit, we will try the little restaurant hidden at... More

They advertise as being locally done by women, but much is commercially made. Even then not much to offer for sale.

Oh my, what tasty food! Original, favorful, plentiful - the best Tico food we have had on our month long trip. Seriously good. The restaurant is located in the back of the craft shop. It's a hidden gem. Not well known by most tourists. Our airbnb host highlighted the restaurant as a place to eat. Excellent value.

I visited the center and had a very educating conversation about the history of the women cooperative with one of the members: Neri. There is an amazing store with the work of many women artists, I bought beautiful handkerchiefs embroidered by hand. At the back of the center there is a small restaurant, there were mostly locals eating there and... More

Great that it's locally made by artists and women in the area. Wish that I could say that they were wonderful, but the truth is that they were just OK and some were mass produced. Would recommend the Casa de Arte much more. Better quality art and very unique pieces.

The gift shop is awesome, can't say much about it, it had great hand-crafted souvenirs. They had amazing covers for pillows with different designs, I liked one that had a horse in it.

**Can't comment on the gift store. Went straight to the restaurant: Sorry guys, I can't give this one a good rating. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but was let down. Prices: Possibly the best in town. They don't have anything on their menu over $8, which is amazing for Monteverde. Most entrees are c2500-3000, which is a steal.... More

Be sure to stop here while in Monte Verde -- beautiful local handwork at very reasonable prices -- and you can be sure the artisans are getting their fair share of the earnings. Close to the delicious Tramonti restaurant.

CASEM is the only souvenir shop located in the Monteverde Community that sells arts and crafts made by local artists. These group of women started their coop many years ago and have gone a long way. They are working hard to acquire all they need to teach other women how to create art and provide a way to help each... More

The owner of the house we stayed at brought us here. And boy were we thankful for it! We had the special root and beef soup, both the cheese and chicken empanadas, and braised beef with home made freshly ground corn tortilla. They were all amazing! The passion fruit juice was very tasty. I wish we had room to eat... More
