We stopped here on a tour of the of the island. Although it was not warm enough to go swimming (we were there in March) I could not get over the beauty of this natural set of pools.I checked the prices for entry and found it was only 1 euro to enter, that seemed like a bargain. Madeira is such... More

A great place to visit whatever the weather. I am sure that sun worshippers and swimmers would enjoy this area when the weather was suitable but we enjoyed watching he very rough seas coming into the area on our visit. There would be plenty of space to sunbathe when conditions suited. You will have travelled along some 'interesting roads' to... More

We were very impressed with the view here and we would have loved to swim a bit in the natural swimming pools, but the weather didn't help , still we were able to make wonderful pictures with the landscape and the sunset. A must visit on Madeira!

These spectacular lava flow pools were naturally carved out by the sea over the millions of years to give this effect. Coupled with the crashing of the pounding waves and the blustery winds the effect is rather beautiful and spectacular. You could swim in the naturally made lava pools but it's cold and you need to be careful of the... More

These pools and changing areas are very clean. There where very few people using the pools during our visit as the weather was quite stormy. This is an experience not to be missed.

Very interesting and rather lovely in a 'dark' way, make sure you see the older free pools not the new dreadful pay ones.

Many ,Many years ago it was very different on the old roads ( Estrada regional ) . there... More

We didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time here, but it was one of the highlights of our trip to Madeira. Such a unique and gorgeous place. Swim in the protected lava pools while the sea crashes all around. Just magical.
