This centre is a little gem. Entrance is free but there is a charge for station parking. Refreshments are available in an adjoining cafe. Nothing is computer generated. Everything is real and that includes the warm greeting and interest of the volunteer staff as you...More

If you are interested in the history of British Railways, especially the steam age of the 20th Century this is an absolute must to see. Fantastic atmosphere with many period rooms at this genuine station museum e.g., the Station Master's Office, period waiting rooms, period...More

There was plenty to see here, much enjoyed by a nine year old. We particularly liked the cafe designed to feel like a traditional station buffet.

Quite interesting for a family visit but not enough for a day out. The cafe is nice but expensive. My son liked it but was more intetested in the model train shop at the station.

Well worth a visit. Step back in time. The centre itself is very well maintained and the staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the best ever scrambled eggs on toast in the heritage cafe. Despite the scaffolding around the perimeter of the station, it...More

What a lovely place to visit. Where old meets modern on the railway. In the heritage centre all things "Brief Encounter" while Virgin Trains shuttle past at well over 100MPH through the station between London and Glasgow. Great shop with lots of memorabilia and gifts....More

Also the film Brief Encounter is continually showing at the heritage centre so it would require extra time should you wish to watch this!
