Must be visited
May 2021
Onaping Falls is the place you can spend a few hours easily. Good for any season but gets a full colors in middle of October, when mosquitos are gone and trees are yellow.
Just walk up to any convenient place and watch.
Unfortunately, some people still trying to express themselves with spray pain everywhere. I think the result will be opposite. Especially for political signs.

Surprisingly Beautiful

Good fall outing but you need to be able to climb the trails. So bring runners or hiking boots and I wouldn’t go in wet weather. We did both walks, the one from the sandy parking lot to the bridge and the main one by the visitor centre. We were there on a Saturday and it was busy so bring your Covid mask. Nice fall foliage. I’m sure the falls themselves are more spectacular during spring run off. Read the plaques or do a bit of google searching. The geological story of these falls is interesting. I don’t care for the AY Jackson painting but that’s a good story too.

A must see.

This is a very nice side trip from Sudbury. Started from AY Jackson Lookout and took the trail to the bridge. Please note that the first part of the trail is VERY rocky and you need appropriate footwear. Sometimes it is hard to navigate along the rocks so be very careful. After the rocky descent from the lookout, it is a nice walk along the water with great views, up to the bridge.

Beautiful spot

We camped at Windy Lake park and travelled to the A Y Jackson lookout. The info centre was closed because of covid. There is a well marked trail offereing views of the falls. The trail is rugged and proper footwear and being in good shape are a must. The falls are spectacular. Definitely a must see.

Great view!

Not quite what I was expecting - other reviews make it a lot more "dramatic" and bigger than it really is. The falls are beautiful. There is a bit of a walk from the visitor centre (closed due to COVID) or if you travel a bit further to a sandy parking lot you are a lot closer to the falls.

A must-see if in the area! Very beautiful from the roadside picnic stop (a bit of a climb) and the Visitors' Centre (currently closed).

Better than Niagara Falls

Very scenic and large waterfall that inspired a Group of 7 painting. Good trails that allow you to get closely to the water safely

The Big Nickel
Jul 2019 • Couples
A great attraction if you are travelling to or through Sudbury. The Big nickel is a landmark fir this north Ontario city and reflects the years of nickel mining within this community.

Spectacular views!

Stunning falls and easily accessible with good tracks. Bit of a scramble in some places but plenty of spots to view without clambering around. Shocked to see so much graffiti though - what were people thinking? Fascinating to see the rock-bursts where molten rock exploded when the meteor struck - a rock-hound's delight!
