Very scenic drive along the "Forgotten World Highway", even after a night of heavy rain which made the drive more interesting. Just have to go a bit slower on the unsealed section of road.

The scenery is like nothing I'd seen before. Green pasture with mini-mountains just jutting up everywhere. Don't plan to go fast - though the locals who know the road are pretty quick, try and follow them when possible. Remember you are not going anywhere. Turn...More

We used to drive along here when it wasn't sealed... the seal makes the drive a lot easier. The scenery is awesome in any weather, and you get to stop at the Whanga pub!

We were worried about taking our very large motorhome on this highway, but as long as you take care and use common sense then it is perfectly fine. The gravel section and tunnel were very cool, with hardly any traffic. Whangamomona is a great stop...More

As a family, this was our first time on the Forgotten World Highway and it is totally worth the three hours! It is so picturesque and the scenery is absolutely surreal, it looks like a painting! The history of it all is also mind blowing...More

Beautiful scenery and a road not travelled by many other people. The tunnel was really cool to travel through and the lack of other people using the road made it easy to take lots of photos along the way.

If you have some more time and are not in hurry, use this road. It gives much better and authentic feeling about the countryside and is is indeed worth driving. There are many wonderfull views on the way.

You need a strong constitution to endure this ride, especially in the passenger seat, but the staggering scenery makes it all worthwhile, even if you do feel a little green by the end.

You need a lot of time and patience when driving this road, but it is totally worth it! The scenery is very beautiful.

Possibly depends on the difficulty. There are stops along the way and there are sleepers and gravel. Have a chat to the staff before booking they're v friendly and helpful.
